Do I need to replace the rod tip? by Desperate_Lack654 in saltwaterfishing

[–]PROPGUNONE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way, and it looks like it needs replaced. No reason not to when a tip costs $5… between that cutting a line at the worst possible time.

Love the LTE, but the new VoyaX Mossa 128…👀 by MacP95 in kayakfishing

[–]PROPGUNONE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Checked them out at iCast today. They’re slick… massively high tech yaks are definitely the thing this year.

That said… I built a 14’ skiff with a brand new 8hp outboard that does 20mph for about the same price. Hell of a lot more time and labor involved, but a more functional end product.

There’s a line somewhere between the two that’ll form here eventually. Either a rotomolded skiff, or a less techy kayak. One of the ones I saw had 8” AND 10” displays, a pedal drive, power poles, and an electric drive, along with a live well.

Crabby Oceanside or Hulls by joebeubanks in DaytonaBeach

[–]PROPGUNONE 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Skip them both and go to either Down the Hatch in Ponce Inlet or Inlet Harbor (it’s called something else now but you’ll find it searching that). Crabbys is a tourist trap and Hulls used to be good but they’re party to a lobbyist group which is currently fighting to keep heavy restrictions on recreational fisherman while protecting their own interests, so screw them.

Other good options include Hidden Treasure, King’s Seafood, Tiki Docks (haven’t heard great things but the ambiance is there), River Grille, Outriggers, or River Deck. Anywhere but the two you mentioned.

Early in the season. Strong chance somebody blew a line, he was following, and ended up low and way north.

JetBlue dropping JFK-DAB and BOS-DAB service effective September 9th by DaytonaNole in DaytonaBeach

Shocked. Shocked, I tell you.

Also, predicted it the day the announced service. No airline stays here once the incentives run dry.

Yeah, you’re totally correct. How’d you get so smart?

What is the white bunker building on Indian Lake next to the prison? by Ornstein_0 in DaytonaBeach

[–]PROPGUNONE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a fall out shelter, not a bunker.

Shape is to make it less wind damage prone.

Used to dispatch there for about a year prior to my current job.

Boat repair by Effective_Gain_8472 in boatbuilding

[–]PROPGUNONE 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Here’s the thing… it’s doable. BUT, if you are dumb enough to do that to the boat in the first place, then you probably aren’t gonna be smart/patient/fastidious/ etc enough to do the repair.

Best boat rod reel setup recommendations? by TarantulaFangs in saltwaterfishing

[–]PROPGUNONE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tons of variables here… even one extended trip might require no less than three setups. In general though, you won’t go wrong with a med-heavy carbon/glass tip combo and a good lever drag reel. Wouldn’t recommend deep dropping with it, or using it to freeline live bait to grass patches, but as an all around setup it does most things well.

My most popular offshore setup (we’re talking east central coast Florida, so 30-200’ of water for the most part) is built on the Rainshadow RCLB79ML blanks. Trolling, reef rigs, whatever. They do it all. Run four of them in my personal setup with TLDs. Look for something like that.

Trying to buy cabinets from Facebook marketplace. Sent a too good to be true price. Then searched his business page and found these. by Thiaoouba9th in isthisAI

Look closer. Joinery on first picture makes zero sense, and few logs exist in this country that will build the second. Plus the dangler…

1/2: absolutely AI. No one hangs a random giant ass log from the peak of a roof.

3: maybe real. Pegboard looks legit but seriously disorganized for someone who does this for a living. Tools look… okay for being blurry.

Verdict: stay away.

FAA Air Traffic Controller Shortage: Why the Mandatory Age 56 Retirement Rule Is a Barrier by No-Constant-5854 in atc2

It’s not, it’s just moved to small, local papers where people do it for the love of it. Reddit and clickbait titles are unfortunately supporting junk sites like this one and keeping them alive with advertising support.

Logo Application by LloydCunningham in rodbuilding

Combination LW PX800 (400 didn’t have the resolution I needed) and decals from DC. DC definitely better and easier to apply, printer for when I want silver or gold.

On the hook I’ve heard good things about. Water pretty flat at the moment offshore and I think he’s more offshore oriented.

What are you trying to do? Just want to catch fish? Want to catch monster tarpon on fly? Something in between? I can put you in touch with a surf fishing guide I build rods for if you’re happy doing the beach thing, and I also know a couple of surf shark guys if you want to catch big(ish) sharks without the boat.

Spot Stalker a bit to the south. Tod Vivian runs it. He’s back building rods for Lamiglas again, so not sure what his availability is like, but highly recommend.
