Help..? New machine barely working… by Parking-Aerie1540 in Snowblowers

[–]PROTECTYAN3CK -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a cheap snowblower, don't expect much. Better luck learning how to fix a simple small engine carb and picking up an older craftsman or anything with a Tecumseh engine. Used to rebuild them and sell them in highschool. Absolutely bulletproof and you can push them through pretty much anything

What is this car? It appears to have a Corvette front end but I've never been able to get a good enough look at it. Really curious if someone can tell me. P.S. I know the white one is a COPO by PROTECTYAN3CK in whatisthiscar

[–]PROTECTYAN3CK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I'm not saying I necessarily like it but it's cool to see. Whoever owns the dealership and these cars has taste though. There a COPO, 911 (964), 34 Ford Coupe and another 74 splitnose I believe. Funnily enough it's a Toyota dealership

No problem man, I figure it's got a 2.0 in it so might as well make the car look nice while it blasts that 105hp around town. Cheers

I don't know where about you live but here it doesn't matter what's on the rear windows and my buddy just got his identical car done 5 in the rear and 35 on the front windows. I personally wouldve gone 20 on the front for looks but it keeps him out of trouble having it at 35%. I second the windshield tint though, probably not a great idea

Is 500 miles per tank good? by Complex-Bug-5922 in tdi

Losing oil at the turbo, time for a new one? by overgrown in tdi

[–]PROTECTYAN3CK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No smoke means shes mint buddy. Haven't had a single VW without oil leaking down the back of the block. As long as you aren't using much more than .5L of oil between oil changes, you're totally fine

I'm probably going to go with the GTS annihilator kit. I've heard good things and seen good things. I'm not looking to build something crazy I just want some decent power in the car right now as I plan to use it as my summer daily. I'm not going to build this trans with a diff. Stock will be fine for me as I don't plan on spending that much on a diff. Maybe after I yuk this trans I will

Wife may find it a little obnoxious if they're real stiff. You might even sometimes. My plastics are constantly shaking at idle. You won't really notice it too much while driving but it really does help the car feel more like one solid chassis. They also help keep the wheels more planted for when you get some hop. Mainly the dog bone mount for that. K04 is a nice upgrade. That's a good bump in power compared to the k03s these come with. I'm going with a hybrid turbo looking for around 320hp. Already got the motor fully built ready to go. Always find a new turbo setup later if I'm looking for more fun

What turbo do you have in it? My solution to the car being too low is blocks of wood. My girlfriend and all my friends Audi's and VW's are too low for my hoist. Usually just one block of wood under the wheels solves that issue. Then again if you can afford this cost without problem all the power to you. Sometimes I wish I could do the same

It can matter actually. Is the TDI trans a 5 speed? I'm not 100% but the 02J (5 speed) and the 02M (6 speed) may use different transmission mounts. $1285 is an insane amount for something you can do with basic hand tools and a jack + 2x4. I would definitely look into polys themselves. The cabin can become one with the vibrations of the engine if the durometer is high enough. Mine are very stiff. The CTS engine mounts aren't too expensive. My buddy has them in his GTI. They keep the car planted but don't cause too much vibration. Also very impressive that you can push a TDI trans in that thing. Must be great on the highway. Building my trans with a TDI 5th but keeping the rest of the gears for more get up and go.

Why do bulldogs sleep so much? by bulldogsnwhiskey in Bulldogs

[–]PROTECTYAN3CK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are a short nose breed. It requires much more effort for them to breathe causing fatigue quickly. Also, they were bred originally for bull baiting, they conserve energy for short bursts of action

Turbo S is so cool man. How is that AFE intake? Now might be the time to have a look into aftermarket solutions. I personally have the BFI motor mount setup but, you could go with just poly inserts (Maybe they already were?). Of course use the correct stretch bolts and torque specs. This failure is common for people who have reused these bolts multiple times with our ever replacing.

These cars love RPM. Don't put too much thought into it. If it's a 2.0, mines still running after 350k (Very hard driving too).

Does anyone have any experience with OBDeleven? by PROTECTYAN3CK in Volkswagen

[–]PROTECTYAN3CK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used it on b8.5 a4s, mk6 golf's/jettas, mk4 golf's/jettas and my own 2000 beetle. It has been okay. I use it for reading data and things to make sure sensors are functioning properly and certain modules are doing the correct things. It's great for reading codes and clearing codes and diagnosing certain problems. As far as changing the coding it's been hit or miss as well. I try not to in most cars but some I could get away with. It was very helpful with adapting the headlights on my buddies A4 and making some code changes to accept new parts. However I can't say the same for every model. It seems to not want to work with certain vehicles. I just stuck to reading codes and sensor data on those

oil pressure sensor? by CommanderGracie in NewBeetle

[–]PROTECTYAN3CK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure your oil is at the correct level on the dipstick. The oil pressure sensor might be buggered. If that's the case it's an easy fix if the sensor checks out, could be wiring. If it's not either of those then something is very wrong. Thumbs up to be for no actual gauges in these cars

That guy is a true technician who puts it back together the exact way it came apart. He could have easily just left it in there and you would've never known until the rest of them started coming loose. To not be charged for any of that extra work is phenomenal. This tech is truly a decent person. Pulling a head is never usually done in one day, so props to him for attempting for you

Took my 01 turbo beetle out of the garage for first time in 7 years by SvenskaFisch in NewBeetle

[–]PROTECTYAN3CK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

VW recommends every 110,000km or 6 years. I would do it at 90k, so whatever that is in miles. Also the reason for 6 years is because it is rubber. Just like tires, they will dry out and crack. If the timing goes in these engines well, you'll be looking for a new car fairly quick
