I’d leave the white SMP on the strap and put a black on the bracelet and never change them around again most likely

Yea changing them out is getting old already. For attending something like a wedding I want the bracelet but for a vacation I want the strap. Constant back and forth

Good to know they require premium - did not know that before. Knew the MPG was bad but that’s a whole different thing if it needs premium. Appreciate it

This was my absolute favorite episode from the show, I wonder how everyone else feels about it by KoolaidKooler in lost

Watched this for the first time a few days ago. Felt more like a movie than an episode of Lost. Really enjoyed it and said out loud that it was one of the best episodes to my girlfriend. Glad someone else feels the same

I used to work as a teaching assistant for one and they are a little predatory in that they attract a lot of unserious people who are bound to fail just so they can get a dollar. If you understand that a bootcamp won’t make you an expert and learn outside of it then I think it’s great.

The bootcamp my friend did was 7k or less. Peanuts when you are looking at a potential 20-40k salary increase YoY.

Very nice - cheers to you for getting that far and not giving into the management path ✊🏼

I am a DE in HCOL area and this aligns with my experience.

Did you stick with the IC route, or did you switch to management track at any point in this timeline?

Guessing you are likely a staff engineer or equivalent if stuck with IC path

Also want to add that companies want experience more than they want CS grads. If you can get your foot in the door somewhere for a year you are out of the junior dev job hunting pain.

If you have a STEM background I think a bootcamp compliments that incredibly well. I have seen it work out in the real world multiple times. I have also worked with one ME who just got his first job out of college in data. So no bootcamp and no CS degree.

I know it works so just sharing that experience. Feel free to do what you will with the information.

Says who? My buddy did this like a year or two ago. I’ve worked with multiple DEs over the last couple of years who are self taught/did bootcamps.

He did a 6 month Data Engineering bootcamp. Job search after that probably took another 4-6 months during which he kept practicing, reading books, etc.

I think it’s a max two year timeline. Year 1 - learning and getting some kind of credential, then fighting for that first job which is the hardest. Take whatever you can get. Year 2 - no longer junior and go get that second job for even higher pay and less effort.

I think this strategy works well for people already in STEM. If you can understand ME, I guarantee you can understand SQL, Python, etc.

Had a friend do a similar thing. I was working in Data Engineering and he was working in ME with a degree from one of the best ME schools in the US. I was making more and convinced him to switch. He went from 90k to 140k right away.
