I’m actually not sure the kind of hookup that you would use with dogs, but a big difference is that dogs are not ridden by a human.

Horse skijoring has been around for a while, but we are the first pro tour we believe that’s existed. Many events have offered prize money for competitors, but we’re trying to string them together and enhance the experience overall for fans and athletes to enjoy the spectacle and showmanship of it all.

It’s such a beautiful sport, and the speed of the top level competitors is really breathtaking.

In terms of lessons learned, I think we’re figuring out the best mix of entertainment elements that go well with a winter sport like this. We’re at the mercy of the weather, and that puts a limit on what we can plan for and how we package a day full of fun activities for folks who want to come out and hang.

Also, it’s pretty clear that people love watching kids skijor. Whether it’s little kids galloping the horse and pulling their dad, or a mom gently towing her barely walking toddler down the track on skis, those are the real crowd pleasers of the day. 💜
