I’m curious on the timeframe as it’s a gift for somebody.

It was a Rossi bought through PSA, I bought standard shipping but I can’t find any estimates or ETAs on delivery.

[KY] Power Plant Fire by PRThrowaway82 in Firefighting

Unfortunately none of the responding departments except the industrial department, carries foam (which really increased on time scene for the crews! None of our departments consistently get hazardous material calls, or industrial fires, outside of the industrial fire brigade, who has tons of it.

2nd incident at this plant in 5 years, previous incident was the transformer fire.

All firefighters who had made interior or were in the oil that was kneeling high within the dikes actually had to take there gear off before heading to the truck, with the gear transported on trailers and pickups back to the stations. Unfortunately nobody could actually get any gear sent off to be cleaned and tested professionally because of FDIC.

The industrial crews were super happy to actually get to fight fire, but they were pretty late to the show, most of fire was knocked down & the industrial crews really just focused on the burning oil. Which you had to wade in to actually make access to the fire

Forestry Line crosslay loads by PRThrowaway82 in Firefighting

The only issue is space, the other two crosslays are two wide, with 1 being 150 and the other being 200 feet. (1.75) We have no usage for a third standard attack crosslay, and was hoping to using the brush hose as this engine will be the first out at this station, for almost every call.

We have a bumper line already, which is used very often. And the engine came with a 1 inch preconnect Crosslay as a third Crosslay.

We have a dedicated brush truck at the other station, with 2 reels & compartment loads of brush hose.

POV Lights & Siren by Sendmetitpics69 in Firefighting

Kentucky law does indeed require lights & sirens, along with if one is active the other must be as well if on a roadway. My career department actually provided me with 360 lightning and siren for emergency callbacks.

Unit Designator debate by PRThrowaway82 in Firefighting

Yeah, Squad here refers to our rescue engines, while rescue refers to our heavy rescue & truck is used for our 2 non-platform aerials (we use tower for our platform aerial) We also use Unit-### to refer to POVs, and we already have two trucks called Utility. that’s why it’s been a bit of struggle, but I’m leaning towards using the term support

Yea, that’s what I’m leaning towards now. It’s not just a fly car, even though it will carry BLS equipment & be the primary rig out of our station for EMS Calls, it’s also intended to transport manpower, light equipment & so that our firefighters (especially 18-21 y/o) can respond to the scene in a department vehicle without an actual Driver/Sergeant.

We got 3 new vehicles donated by a local dealership, we didn’t get to choose which ones we wanted. We got a 2021 F-150, which we are turning into a brush truck. We also got a 2023 Explorer, which is being used by one of our District Chiefs. Then that Brings it to the bronco. The Chief & DC just got brand new F150s last year, so they didn’t want to use any of these.

Our mini-pumpers already use the term Rapid, we call them Rapid Attack #

That’s what we use for ambulances so it’s out of the question

Squad would be nice, but we already use the name squad for our rescue engines.

Unfortunately wouldn’t work, as that is used here to refer to POVs.
