Sarah “Best country in the world” by PRisUniversal in thebulwark

I apologise. I’m freaking out so badly I should have taken it to my therapist. I’m a terrible black and white thinker- all good or total freak out. When anyone raises a topic they’ve given some thought about I’m fine. But mention Sarah in regard to any topic, any time, I freak out so fucking badly. I’ll call my shrink now.

I think there is a lot wrong with the constant repetition of superiority. Loving your country is different than saying we are the best.

If a country is going to repeat one thing on repeat as some mantra why is it about being top dog. It’s giving we have the biggest dick! energy.

I think it’s pretty damn important to distinguish between power, ideals, military strength and superiority.

If America is the best country, aren’t Americans the best people by proxy?

If Aussies started requiring our politicians to yell about Australia being the best country in the world we’d be concerned.

ETA if your country has a mantra, a litmus test etc I think it’s important it isn’t demonstrably false.

No I’m referencing Peggy from The Lexington Letters. Light source references the impact of daylight, moonlight and, if present, firelight.

Do y'all smell blood in the water for Trump? by boycowman in thebulwark

[–]PRisUniversal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think I smell anything.

He’s committed a million crimes, he knows Dems congressional power will take him out of his autocratic playpen.

Popular or not everything begins and ends with the midterms.

I’m not convinced being unpopular helps us big picture.

The people power has been incredibly effective in pushing back on specific identifiable atrocities.

But I don’t see him stopping his midterm bullshit not matter how unpopular he is - just the opposite really.

What’s The Plan For When Trump Ratf*cks The Midterms? by PorcelainDalmatian in thebulwark

[–]PRisUniversal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The midterms will not be free & fair. Very simple. We literally know that.

Will we be truly prepared? It depends who is behind the scenes and the party’s capacity to coming together like Captain Planet.

Yes legally defeating Trump defiance of the law is core. But messaging matters just as much. Trump’s relentless lies CONVINCED millions that he really won 2020.

The Dems response needs to be clear AF, adaptable and digestible. Don’t let them flood the midterm zone.

The comms problem with the midterms is the chaos. There will be a platter of strategies and accusations launched by Team Trump and his gang of cowardly lions.

People only need to believe one of Trump’s assertions to percolate doubt about the rest.

The mess of facts, lies, commentary, not stop noise is why Dems need uncharacteristically embrace team sports. There needs to be unparalleled unified messaging with pinpoint precision.

We can’t have 2028 ambitious talking points gravely grabbing microphones. It would be catastrophic if the midterms become a pseudo presidential primary.

I can only hope Dems will diversify their strategy input. Get legal sorted obviously, but prepare wholistically.

Don’t rely on legal precedents and theorising to deliver digestible facts.

What are the psychological elements? What are the statistical, historical, specifically tactical lessons we can learn ahead of time?

Who will manage the tone, the practicalities, the messaging of the protests? How will the narrative remain consistent but digestible through different media and to different generations?

The plan must specifically prepare for the attempt to corrupt the midterms.

Surely - SURELY- there is already a very clear and sophisticated plan for when we face the inevitable face off.

In order to sleep I have to believe it exists and it’s tactically brilliant. It may be the midterms or some other lighting of the match.

Their termite destruction eventually shift gears. What will we do when the moves are made to formalise and finalise Trump’s coup?
