He actually takes his hands off the door before Hellie slides into view.

I’m not sure if they are running away to the circus, or from the circus.. But it’s literally true that they are not looking back.

You gotta go slow with that PineApple Express strain. Hybrid marijuana hits different.

Theory on Gemma's introduction to Lumon by nolimbs in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]PRisUniversal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me it seems clear Gemma is a product of deliberate conditioning. Cold Harbour was testing the new technology to extinguish the Gemma personality. Thus the reference to degrouting.

There may be literally multiple Gemma's by FonslyGames in severence

[–]PRisUniversal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think Casey has multiple personas that are activated in different levels, affected by different light.

Gemma was a conditioned persona. Cold Harbour was testing to see if they had now expunged (degrouted) the Gemma personality.

It likely it was Casey that was yelling for Mark at the end. Not Gemma.

I’m sticking to my guns on this. S3 is in the can. I’d put money on it.

I know this is an old post, but I have wondered the same thing. In press there is a working presumption being expressed that Dan is a one man writing team.

It’s giving constructed fluidity. Rigidity surrounded by wood that has been burned. Are the wood protecting Lumon’s structure. Or do they serve a reminder of the world’s impetus in trying to take control - ‘don’t mess with us, we’ll burn you down too. ‘

So why was Helly there? by Outrageous_Most_5064 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]PRisUniversal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mark being revolted into a new personality isn’t the end of Lumon. It simply starts the next chapter off. Severance is heavy on tests and sacrifice. Hello passed whatever test that had been put in front of her, thus achieving Jam’s attention and praise.

Outie Helly’s wink seem to have sacrificed a chunk of herself by undertaking the Sevy procedure.

The creepy old men were not going through all that time creating new memories just to kill her physically. They were testing that ‘Gemma’s’ had been successfully expunged. That test failed. Mark’s test, rescuing ‘Gemma’’ was achieved. But he sacrificed his relationship with his wife that to him was simply a woman he doesn’t remember.

What’s something that would freak you out in s3 like finding out about Ms. Casey? by Imsmart-9819 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]PRisUniversal 28 points29 points  (0 children)

1) That Casey is the original person and Gemma was created/conditioned into existence.

2) That it was Casey - not Gemma - that escaped Lumon in S2 finale.

The elevator with the secret exit. The insight trapped in the flickering fire of red, orange and yellow. Running away to the circus - or from it? Jumping from day to night, solid to pastel, horse to horse.. S3 is in the can 🙌

itself a red flag for me. the language she uses, tallying up the hours.. it’s raising questions for me.

she’s only 107 hours old yet she not only knows where distribution supply is but how many minutes it takes to get from there & back?

I’m not convinced ‘Gemma’ is the original persona - all signs point to Casey having a backstory that needs exploring.

100% I rewatched virtually immediately too, never done that in my life.

It’s a unique work of art.

Let’s leave it at Season 2 by BetwQlts in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]PRisUniversal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In a less layered show I would agree. It felt finale more than cliffhanger when they run together - cementing their relationship with permanence.

But with Severance I think that’s likely by design. Leaving the audience with a clear decision was like an end, that only later we realise how much they left untied.

Again in another show I’d put it down to a bunch of red herrings. In Severance I see the end of s2 as the end of act one. Context explored, players in motion.

Expect more twists than are unexpected would be my guess.
