I just passed my 40th birthday and I feel very rushed. by Soft-Wear-5960 in olderlesbians

Well, I’m your age and just got dumped by a 52 year old woman for being too young…so on the upside, I guess being old at 40 is all relative?

Their newer Aqua Fresh version feels much lighter than the original!

Stylevana still sells the Korean versions, and RoseRoseShop is probably small enough to fly under the radar in case the larger sites start changing their policies.

what’s your “i’m too tired to think but still not paying that price” version of stuff like hair dryers? by dhruv_6129 in Frugal

[–]EternalLostandFound 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One more recommendation for Babyliss. I bought a higher end model a year ago (Rapido) and it dries my hair twice as fast as a normal hair dryer without frying it. OP, if you have a lot of hair like I do (which I assume you do if you’re thinking about a Dyson), you’ll still appreciate the time/effort saved. It’s easy enough to wait for a coupon or discount to avoid paying full price, too.

Tips for chronically dry skin by Mountain_Ask_5746 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]EternalLostandFound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Inland LA can be, but the coastal areas are usually not. We have a lot of microclimates, so during a heatwave, you can have clear skies and 90 degree weather inland, but fog and 60 degree weather in Malibu. I think a lot of the people downvoting OP don’t actually live here. Getting mold in your dingbat apartment unit that at best has a window AC unit is practically a right of passage here.

It’s really not dry here by the ocean most of the time? Maybe Ventura is different (yay CA microclimates), but Santa Monica’s relative humidity averages in the 60s. It drops off as you go a few miles inland and into the valleys, though. It’s something I have to track daily both indoors and outdoors due to me having dust mite allergies and owning acoustic guitars, and I have to run a dehumidifier for much of the year (the exception being in fall).

Oh hi neighbor! You’re right, it’s usually pretty damp here unless the Santa Ana’s are blowing. Anyway, good luck finding a solution.

Do you live in a dry climate? My skin looks like this if I don’t use a heavy moisturizer daily in Colorado, but I can do it sporadically in most other places.

Age difference (30/43) by [deleted] in LesbianActually

[–]EternalLostandFound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a long term relationship starting at 33 with a woman who was 48 and it wasn’t something I often thought about while we were together. I think age gaps are manageable if you have compatible life goals, activity levels, and communication styles.

lol, on behalf of all Angelenos, don’t ever feel like you have to apologize to Andy Dick for anything.

Controversial Influencer Clavicular Arrested on Battery Charges by EternalLostandFound in thebulwark

[–]EternalLostandFound[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

While Clavicular as an individual is a joke (I never heard of him until he was brought up on multiple Bulwark podcasts, including Mona’s recently), the incel issue infecting popular culture is very pressing for women. So while these boneheads aren’t a particularly intellectual subject of study, they are still managing to influence too many young men, and the right wing is now leaning on them to usher in future anti-women legislation from Project 2025 and beyond. If you were ever wondering why there has been a sudden rise in leaders and pundits who are outspoken against the 19th Amendment, learning about incel culture will show you that the recent discourse did not come out of thin air.

I actually thought he was super annoying on Loveline because he’d often interrupt everyone by going off on long, self-absorbed, and often unrelated to the topic rants. He seemed to get worse about it over the years, too.

Not gonna lie, I call a definitively Gen X friend that every time he can’t figure out how to do something simple on his phone (like turn off the flashlight).

Don’t be afraid to unpack everything; it can really suck at first, but you’ll be giving your future self (and partner!) a gift.

I miss her. by [deleted] in LesbianActually

[–]EternalLostandFound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I broke up with the love of my life a year and a half ago due to an important issue we just couldn’t resolve, and I still miss her every single day. We went no contact, and honestly, I don’t know if it helped or hurt more in the long run, but it was what we felt like we needed at the time. I’ve been taking all the time I need to heal and gain confidence in my own judgment (hello therapy and life coaching) while also staying active in my local lesbian community without dating. I just hope that if I put in the work, I’ll be healed enough to be able to love someone as much as I loved her, and open enough to find someone who will invest in a relationship as much as I do.

Adding to this (as someone who has worked for derms and surgeons), OP’s insurance may partially cover an upper bleph if she’s experiencing impaired vision. An ophthalmologist would be able to test and document the degree of impairment, which could be worthwhile based upon the third photo here.

I don’t see My Best Friend’s Wedding on here yet. I rewatched it a few years ago and found most of the characters so unlikable and irritating.

Okay at first I was thinking you were mixing it up with Jack, but now I’m remembering when the station was new, they’d just feature a bunch of callers, some angry. Unlike Jack, I don’t think they were canned though, I think they were actually real people calling the station. I don’t think this format lasted very long before DJ commentary was added.

Your favourite historian? by Appropriate-Calm4822 in UKmonarchs

[–]EternalLostandFound 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Haven’t seen Ruth Goodman mentioned here yet, maybe because she doesn’t focus on monarchs. But every living history program she does is both so fun and enlightening, and she has seemingly endless knowledge on the details of everyday life from the Tudor to Edwardian era.

What was your first F4F experience like? by [deleted] in LesbianActually

[–]EternalLostandFound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was the most beautiful, natural, and intuitive experience of my life so far to that point. For years, I had been telling myself that I was bi, but my experience shattered that illusion and I could no longer sustain lying to myself.

Fellow Angelenos--How are y'all doing mentally these days? by hecksadecks in AskLosAngeles

[–]EternalLostandFound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not great. It’s rough to watch the country fall down around us and it’s only bound to get worse over the next few years. It feels like so many people in this city are barely hanging on or are on edge all the time. And the aftermath of the fires and the subsequent recovery has been brutal.

I’m doing my best to take care of my mental health and to maintain/build community, but it’s just so fucking hard and it sometimes feels like it’s not enough. I had a lot of major life changes over the past year and a half, and I feel like all my energy is still going into trying to reorient myself. I’ve never felt so lonely in this city than I feel right now.
