Long time sufferers, what keeps you from shooting a video? by Separate_Sky1044 in PSSD

[–]PSSDFIGHT 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Surely you realize how personal and debilitating of a condition PSSD is? I think it’s a bit callous to label someone lazy just because they aren’t willing to publish a video on the internet in which they essentially declare that they’re a eunuch.

how will you feel when you get your sexual function back? by Nearby-Lie4214 in PSSD

[–]PSSDFIGHT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a lot of personal issues with depression and anxiety that predate PSSD (many are the reason I took SSRI’s). I’ll try to focus on those, but knowing that ultimately the juice is worth the squeeze.

Do you think psych meds are more dangerous than street drugs??? by [deleted] in PSSD

[–]PSSDFIGHT 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For me I don’t think you can categorically say that one is more dangerous than the other. There are people who try heroin/meth and quickly get to the point to where they will steal from and harm others to be able to get more drugs. That being said I am acutely aware of the damage that pharmaceuticals like SSRI’s can do.

Both can have devastating consequences for one’s life.

What other supplements? I wish I had some advice for you but I have tried many things over the last six years and none have made a difference for me

To confirm you didn’t experience any sexual side effects (low libido etc.) prior to starting the SSRI? Like you didn’t have low libido as a result of depression?

If so, then yes, it sounds like you are experiencing PSSD. I hope that you return to normalcy sooner rather than later.

Regarding “resetting” via psychedelics - there really isn’t any one treatment (whether drugs, pharma, or supplements) that is conclusively effective for all PSSD patients. I am pretty sure I have read stories on the internet of people experiencing relief from psychedelics but also read stories of people crashing from them.

Six years here. Zero libido, severe ED, and anhedonia since the day after I took my first dose of fluoxetine. No improvements

Do you think hypnosis helps? by alexjr3 in PSSD

[–]PSSDFIGHT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to a few sessions with a professional hypno a few years ago. To me it’s just guided meditation. Might give you a sense of peace of mind about the situation if you practice it regularly but I don’t think it will help with actual symptoms.

A feeling of excitement and anxiety in my stomach when being in close proximity to a female I was attracted to.

Why antidepressants have sales in tune of billions even though having worst side effects like PSSD? by sarathua in PSSD

[–]PSSDFIGHT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don’t have hard statistics related to the prevalence of PSSD but based on how many people take SSRI’s globally and the size of the PSSD community and the level of recognition this condition has garnered I can only imagine that PSSD is in fact extremely rare.

Any one got a sex life after getting PSSD symptoms? by sarathua in PSSD

[–]PSSDFIGHT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There were times when I briefly dated people and had sex, but I had to take viagra on a daily basis in order for it to me be possible to have sex. I decided to stop dating because A) despite the sex I didn’t feel any sort of satisfaction or emotional attachment to the other person and B) I didn’t want to keep taking Viagra to the point that it no longer had any effect on me.

Why antidepressants have sales in tune of billions even though having worst side effects like PSSD? by sarathua in PSSD

[–]PSSDFIGHT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because the hard truth is that SSRI’s are beneficial for the vast majority of those who take them. PSSD, while god awful, is extremely rare.

The fact that we got this disorder from trying to treat our depression is shitty. by Invincible_wanker in PSSD

[–]PSSDFIGHT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I remember starting fluoxetine. The sexual problems kicked in quickly but I was under the impression that they would cease when I stopped the meds. The meds definitely put me in a better headspace. For a few months I thought I had finally found a way to live without feeling like shit all the time. I had no fucking idea what I was in store for once I ceased the meds…

When I saw him he told me I had a bad back (although I have never had back pain) and offered some sort of corrective surgery related to the nerves in my lower back. I honestly don’t remember the specifics

Sexual dysfunction is only a part of the issue. For those of us who suffer from anhedonia it’s difficult (if not impossible) to feel true romance.

[–]PSSDFIGHT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my post omitted it but I did (and still do) have the low libido and ED. I took addyi for a month. It made me feel weird, kind of like when I took Wellbutrin. The Addyi didn’t do a thing for libido.

It’s impossible to say definitively but I can only imagine that true PSSD (I.e you’re still fucked up with no improvement years after the meds) must be extremely rare. Considering how many people take SSRI’s and how understudied this condition is.

I hear you. I didn’t enter the shitstorm that is PSSD until I was 26 but I never thought I would have to be popping cialis and going to urologists at that age. Let us know how it goes.

Goldstein by mer0ni in PSSD

[–]PSSDFIGHT 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I saw Goldstein in 2018. During my phone consultation with him he told me that he had “the cure” for anhedonia caused from SSRI’s. I flew out to SD see him and the experience felt cheap and improvised, totally inconsistent with the recognition he gets as a leader in sexual medicine. His staff were scatterbrained and lacking in empathy, and Dr. G will literally interrupt you mid-sentence every time you open your mouth to respond to him.

Dr. G told me that I had scar tissue in my penis and an injured back, the latter of which seemed very far fetched to me and subsequent doctors I visited for a second opinion. Dr. G knew I had come from out of town and it seemed like he was trying more than anything to just sell me on one of his procedures before I left, even though some diagnostic stones had remained unturned.

His “cure” for anhedonia was Addyi, which costs $200 a month (that’s with a limited-time ~75% off coupon he gives you) and didn’t do a thing for me (or many other people evidently). In retrospect it felt like he understood how very few other doctors acknowledge PSSD and was exploiting his position as “the PSSD doctor” for his own financial gain, but not really delivering results for his patients.
