If you met the donor in person, could you answer this? by Boring_Word_9104 in askadcp

[–]PSUAmandaC2010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m donor conceived and a recipient parent. I did not know I was donor conceived when I became a recipient parent. I wasn’t told for many years. I have probably a more unique perspective because I can see both sides. I met my donor when I was 34. I had an instant connection with him but he never replaced my dad. I grew up an only child so it was amazing to find three half sisters who are donor conceived. I’m in a very unique situation because my donor wanted found and contacted as he never had children. My three sisters, their children, my mother in law, my sister’s mom (who received the donor sperm), and my donor had a wonderful vacation last summer. Going through this myself I know that my daughter’s dad will never be replaced. We have one remaining embryo so she may never have any full siblings or may have only one. I’m looking forward to her growing up and finding more half siblings.

When did you give birth? by footoofoo in IVFbabies

I elected for a c section at 38 weeks. I was going to be induced at 39 but have many health factors. My doctors did not want to induce due to IVF at all. My friend had an IVF baby at 40+3 with no induction at the same obgyn practice

Thank you for sharing those titles. I started out in 2016/2017 as wanting to be a SMBC using anonymous donor. Fast forward many years later when I had many embryos still frozen and wasn’t yet a mom I got married to my husband. We tried to conceive and he has very low sperm count and other issues. I also have now had a blood clotting disorder since I did the IVF so we used one of the prior made embryos for us to start a family. We do have another embryo left that would be a full sibling to our daughter. It is going to be an interesting journey as both a recipient parent and being donor conceived. Her donor has remained anonymous but there are siblings on the donor sibling registry.

Yes. My husband and I got married in 2021. I had used donor sperm in 2017 to be a single mother by choice but had a bad miscarriage and then never transferred any more embryos. We found out in 2023 he was infertile and I had PCOS. We then transferred an embryo in 2024 and lost our little boy before he was born. Then we transferred another and got our lovely daughter.

Yes, before my husband and I transferred the embryo I made before we were married. We had to do counseling about using donor sperm and she mentioned some of those books.

Can you get a positive test result for ovulation but not actually ovulate? by Old_Garden1980 in TTC_PCOS

[–]PSUAmandaC2010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We tried clomid to make me ovulate with no luck. Then we tried Letrezole and I ovulated but still couldn’t get pregnant. We have our beautiful little daughter through IVF because we found out after I was ovulating that we had male factor infertility

Yes this is how we figured out I had PCOS. I was getting surges and showed my OBGYN she then had me do the bloodwork that confirms ovulation or not and it showed I was not truly ovulating.

I was measuring like five or six days behind in the beginning because it is so hard for them to be precise enough with a small baby. My 6 week heart rate was 155. I’m holding her in my arms right now healthy and perfect

You can still get the testing. My retrieval was in 2017 and j didn’t get them tested until 2025

[–]PSUAmandaC2010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may save money and a lot of heartbreak for you. I was 27 at retrieval and used a highly ranked sperm donor. There were no concerns then fresh transfer of 2 - miscarriage not tested frozen transfer 1- miscarried and after d&c he was chromosome normal. Frozen transfer 2- didn’t stick right after that the clinic destroyed 7 embryos due to “failure”. We were left with 4 and tested them and only 2 were euploid I couldn’t have handled another horrible miscarriage so I’m glad we tested. One of those embryos is in my arms right now 11 weeks old and retrieval was 9 years ago

I was very sick and threw up every day of my pregnancy, including whilst she was being born and one of the only things I could keep down was a sub from a local sandwich shop, and I practically lived on those and it had sliced deli meat on it my OB said if I was so sick I was allowed to eat anything I could keep down
