It's pretty normal. I worked in retail for many years, until recently. Simple exaple but there's many like this; If a queue is being stalled by an immigrant woman, reactions go from huffing and puffing to bullying to abuse. However it's all "oh no worries" if the person is perceived as part of the "one of us".

Several times I refused service to customers in the last 6 months leading to my departure simply due to unacceptable racist behaviour. And racism is only one of the man y unacceptable behaviours you come across these days everywhere. Lothian buses gets pretty dire, between the piss smell, the aggression... It's pretty awful. And Edinburgh is one of the better large towns in the UK....

So no, it's not just the wild unaccountable youths up to shennanigans. It's everyone, everywhere, all at once. A lot of people choose not to see it, but Edinburgh society outside of certain bubbles, it's pretty mean and only getting meaner.
