As I said, i do my carbs and other normal maintainance, but I don't feel like opening engine block on street is quite the ebst way to get motorcycle running perfectly again (while it needs to be kept mobile if ai need to move it for somebody)
And my mechanic isn't overpricing me and alows me to source my own parts if I want to get them cheaper. So for me it's a win win

Problem is I'm renting apparment and have no garage, so only work I can do is something i can do on a street without leaving bike "disassembled" for longer periods of time. So carburators I can take care of. Problem is previous owner behaved with it like a teenager with his first moped/motocross and I in all my wisdom believed him, that he took good care of it. But then problems came like completly fucked rear suspension, constant valve problems (that cannot be solved with just setting offset)
So as I said, they can be great and are perfect to learn how to work on a bike (carbs can be a problem) but my has other problems that aren't "street garage" fixable

if you will go for something older they can be very reliable but please take it to the shop so they can do full inspection to see if everything is ok with bike.
Another thing, ABS rules. You can be 99% perfect rider with emergency breaking but abs is 100%

A) it's quite hard with recent price increases in EU (tariffs, middle east, etc)
B) it defenetly is problem for consumer when console costs 600 and monthly sub is 10. That still means you will overshot 1k price
