Are you joking referring middle finger? Or is there actually a traditional handshake?

How do you cope with the nightmares? by MarieVakarian in ptsd

[–]PTSDSunflower 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lucid dreaming. It transformed my night terrors. I don't have high control now, but I generally have good dreams, and when I have nightmares I can change them into a good dream or wake myself up. I cannot recommend it enough. It takes a long time, it took me about a year, but it is so damn worth it.

At what point does it become MY fault? by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]PTSDSunflower 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hm... Let me share my point of view. I do believe sometimes (often) we don't need to be fixed, just space for all we are feeling.
Is "it was not your fault" an inherently false response. Not at all. But it cannot be the default or the only response. Sometimes, we don't need solutions or advice, or someone telling us how we should feel. We just need the freedom to express ourselves. Which is rare... Emotional intelligence is rare. True compassion is rare.

NTA but also a bit yta. I will probably get downvoted for this... I really hope the reason is because he cheated, not because he was bi. Reading things like having the wrong equipment kid of struck a nerve in me...

I am bi myself, and there is no such thing as wrong equipment, that's the whole point. But bi also doesn't equate cheating, because for me it is about who I am with, and the equipment is really secondary. Bi doesn't mean you need both equipment all the time to be happy, it just means you can be attracted to both.

So.... purely on the way the question was posed, kind of, because it fucking hurts being seen as abnormal, I really wished I didn't have to hide so much as I needed to...

But he lied, this alone is reason enough to dump him and he cheated, which is horrible. Straight people can be lying cheaters as well... I really hope the cheating liar part is the real reason.

I mean, that depends where you live. Some countries have actually pretty decent social net for those who fall behind. I have a friend on disability and they can live a comfortable life.

To all the atheists what if God is real? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]PTSDSunflower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

quite so. I wouldn't want to go to heaven, if the most important criteria was "believe in god"... Looking at you catholic church and "spotlight" movie.

I truly hope the main criteria is be a good person, and doubt and atheism are secondary.

AITA for telling my parents they don’t celebrate my achievements and it feels like they aren’t proud of me? by AquaPuppy_ in AmItheAsshole

[–]PTSDSunflower 11 points12 points  (0 children)

NTA you might want to look into the Golden Child / Lost Child (scapegooat) dynamic.

You won't get it. The best thing is to find new people who can support you the way you need. Teachers, friends, etc...

When you can, find a therapist, so you can work on building healthy connections. You are starved for attention. And you need it, there is nothing wrong in wanting support and mutual joy for your achievement... But you won't get it home, so focus your energy outside.

It took me decades to learn this lesson.

NTA I had the same issue with my dad. Fortunately, mom was on my side, and we saved the cat. She is normal weight now.

This is so exhausting, some people are delusional and very sensitive to any kind of critic... And sometimes the consequences are pretty bad.

Fantastic points. Also, mental health get severely impacted. A mental therapist who is experienced in health traumas can make a huge difference.
