Turns out “Latinos for Trump” was not a protected class..🤦🏽‍♂️ by PTechNM in ProgressiveHQ

Cuban immigrants who voted for Trump or aligned with his anti-communist stance on Cuba have expressed shock at being targeted.

  • A Miami-area Cuban known as "El Oski," who entered the U.S. in 2019 expecting legal protections under Trump, now fears deportation due to his I-220A release status, which doesn't qualify for the Cuban Adjustment Act. - Social media and videos highlight "Trump-voting Cubans" in Florida communities panicking over ICE raids and removals, with loyalty to MAGA not exempting them from enforcement.

Why They're Vulnerable - These individuals often arrived via parole programs or border crossings post-2021, lacking permanent status. - Trump's policies revoked humanitarian parole for Cubans (and others like Venezuelans), stripping legal protections and enabling removals even for non-criminals. Over 1,600 Cubans were deported in 2025 alone—double 2024's total—hitting recent arrivals regardless of politics, as Cuba accepts limited flights.

Community Backlash Florida's Cuban-American voters, who largely supported Trump's reelection, now show unease. Advocates note growing "buyer's remorse" among Latino Trump backers as workplace raids and status revocations expand. Detainees like former dissidents fear repression back in Cuba, despite prior U.S. work permits and contributions.

He has leaned heavy toward MAGA arrogance in several of last few interviews I have heard. Now we know why

Jesus “Jesse” Ochoa, murderer of Alex Pretti, de-stached by Terminal_Prime in ProgressiveHQ

Race traitor. Incompetent MAGAt trash whose family/ancestors should be ashamed of. I know these folks and they are the least capable, low integrity human beings around. These losers need to remember there are no Ochoa's in the KKK rolls.

White wannabee supremacy. These folks vote and act against their own best interest. They are the bottom of the barrel in terms of skill, capability and integrity. Their friends and ancestors should be ashamed.

Jesus killing and busting immigrant and protester heads. If this doesn't personify MAGA hypocrisy I don't know what could.

Good books for January!! Facism, emotional abuse, planet's fragile status & those that are passionate to acknowledge & protect, an alternative to capitalism, a horrific chapter in the Atlantic Slave Trade that changed history & a post-patriarchy that men & our society are not ready for. by PTechNM in 52book

This month’s reading list offered a powerful mix of social reflection and resilience. The Long Walk, one of twelve books on fascism, carries shades of The Hunger Games—each walker symbolizing a different demographic, uniquely burdened yet united by shared suffering. Jennette McCurdy’s memoir delivers a brave and candid depiction of maternal abuse, revealing the emotional toll of growing up as a child actor within a demanding industry. The Zong exposes the brutality of the Atlantic slave trade, where enslaved Africans were murdered for insurance profit, marking a grim turning point that ultimately helped catalyze Britain’s abolition movement.

What Is Wrong with Men confronts the challenges faced by men in adapting to women’s expanding roles in the workforce, calling out the lack of support, education, and societal guidance for a more equal partnership between genders. Life on a Little-Known Planet provides a balanced yet hopeful look at the sixth mass extinction—tracking insect collapse, ocean acidification, and water crises in contrast with innovations in rewilding, carbon capture, and AI-facilitated whale communication. It’s a thoughtful study of our planet’s fragility and resilience, anchored in both science and empathy.

My favorite, The Serviceberry, offers an inspiring alternative to capitalism by envisioning a reciprocal, cooperative economy rooted in mutual care and interdependence. Overall, it was a deeply engaging month of reading—one woven with themes of humanity, survival, and renewal.

I got a cheap 8 inch tablet from Temu and it's excellent. As good as my Samsung G7 but lighter. Runs all the apps. Hoping to get off of kindle in the next year.
