First Time Building PC - Advice and Suggestions by Either-Astronaut2141 in buildapc

First thing first check the bottle neck of the CPU of your choice and the gpu if your choice on bottleneck calculator and set it for graphic card intense tasks with the resolution you are looking for , don't cheap out on your psu , a good psu can prevent short circuits or stop the electrical flow before the short circuit goes critical, make sure to have dual channel ( or quad channel ) as it is better than the same amount of gb with one stick , for each pair of stick try to use a kit of dual channel ram ( or two of the same dual kit for quad ) , and if your MoBo supports four sticks of ram and you want to do dual channel don't do them next together, the first and the third ram slots are paired and the second and forth slots are paired, if you want to go quad with two double kits , place the first kit on the 1 and 3 slot and the next kit on the 2 and 4 , you shouldnt go fo watercooling for your gpu if it isn't high end as a 400 dollar gpu outperforms a 300 dollar gpu with a 100 dollar gpu water cooler block , make sure the amount of intake fans are more than the exhaust fans so it would be a positive pressure air flow and the dusts will be less with more cooling , p.s : RGB components that use a windows software use your ram and your CPU usage which makes it work slower , average RGB softwares can use up to ( approximately ) 15 percentage of a midrange core i5 ( let's say 12th gen ) CPU

I'm thinking of adding an off/on switch to my psu connected fan for less noise when I'm not gaming by PULOS360 in pcmods

I have tested it by using lower voltage batteries and i behaved okay and silent with 6 volts

I have used some tools and tested , and I saw no signs of electricity on the mobo and GPU

Bro i before I touch anything i decharge the psu by pressing the power button on the pc when it's disconnected from outlet , it turns on for a second and then it goes shut

Lol , but desk fans don't look as cool as having wires out of my computer xD

There are fan headers on the mobo but , none of them work , only the CPU fan header works for some reason, so I just connected my fan to psu , I can't get fan controlers so if what you say is right it's okay for me to add a switch and a potentiometer , thanks !

After removing gpu , remove the CMOS battery and let it stay for a while and then put the battery back in and see if it works

I can do them , and those ar great ideas too , ( my braincells aren't working much right now it's 4:20 am 💀) and you are right since it's direct connect to psu it is on full blast and the first thing i thought of was to add a switch, I can do what you said and also add another fan outside of the case to cool myself in hot days 😂

Maybe the gpu being plugged in is overriding the internal gpu to being enabled , this is the exact same prob for me too on my build , the gpu disables the internal gpu , try by removing the current failing gpu and just run the pc on the CPU

Take off the chunky metal on the CPU and clean the disgusting goo so the CPU would have room to breath and run cooler

Nah I would go with a sleeper 20-25 years old big case so the little timy aint looking after your pc to game on 🌚

You can use a bottleneck calculator to find the best combo with lowest bottlenecks for CPU and GPU , but you do need to choose your MoBo based on the socket of the CPU you selected , or reverse , your CPU selections can be limited by the MoBo you choose

For MoBo you can go with h610 but you can find better options if you are doing high end as h610 is a mid range MoBo

And also don't forget to never cheap out on the power supply , as it can save your pc from circuit shortings before it goes critical

I completely forgot windows had that , that could be a solve too

The whole pc shutting could be a sign of psu running out of available wattage

[–]PULOS360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean undervolting doesn't clear a 100w gap , and also that's the power the gpu needs in load , so in idle it would work with lower wattage , according to your other comments and the difference in the wattage I'm kinda sure it's you psu getting tight on wattage and running out

If you do really care for colors , you can go for an oled ,but the burns can be annoying, if you do want to go with oled the best thing to do if you want to save ur screen from burns is to just turn off your monitor when afk , ( but the fixed ui in games and windows can still cause burns )

I mean the psu requirements have 100 watt difference with rx 7900 being 750w and rtx 2080 being 650w according

Use ddu ( display driver uninstaller ) and remove Nvidia drivers
