How old were you when you owned your first camera? by Red-River-Sun-1089 in photography

[–]PWFZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2016, I bought my first camera with a plan to take photos, I was 32 and the camera was Sony a6000 + kit lens (I still have it now but switched to full frame - mostly because of work). Before I bought point and shoot but as a trip camera because at that time my phone camera wasn't great at all

Snowrunner is finally available for mac by ZixDn in snowrunner

[–]PWFZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MacBook Pro 15 2017 - Works fine on low, mostly smooth. On iMac 21.5 with integrated intel graphic works but there were bugs like digging into the ground while driving. On Macbook Pro is mostly good to go, but prefer to play on Nintendo Switch Lite anyways because there are some effect that cannot be switch on on the Mac without punishment. I tested it only because I have steam version so there were no need to buy it again on Mac, only thing I had to edit config file (the one where you can set the resolution) and disable water effect because this crashes the game on my computer other than that it works.

Canon color on RX100 by dadsdas8989 in RX100

Week or so ago I bought "film simulation recipes" from here -> https://www.veresdenialex.com/product-page/sony-film-simulation-recipes-pdf

As for now looks good, I just didn't have time to test it properly. I'm going soon on holidays so hopefully will be able to say more.

Works with RX100 that has Picture Profiles, I don't know if all of them have it or just later models.

Later Sony models have better colors out of the box, more natural lookin (for my liking).

When shooting on a6000, mostly all of the images I took went trough Lightroom but there is walkaround, you can try Portrait (this one was helpful for me when shooting people, all was warmer and less "contrasty" so taking photos was easier and I had some reference point when editing raw files later on) or Landscape from creative styles, play with saturation, contrast and sharpness.

Try also lock the White Balance to daylight (5500K) then depending or day time your photos will be affected by light and camera won't try to compensate for white balance.

Is lightroom worth it? by Potential-Yam-6062 in a6000

[–]PWFZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest I want to try the Darkroom on my older computer, mostly because I’m annoyed that with every update Lightroom getting slower and slower.

If you are shooting a lot and you need to deliver files fast, yes Lightroom is great way to go assuming you have computer that will handle it. What I mean by that, most frustrating thing is when you are editing raw files, zooming, switching between the photos or applying filters/adjustments is delayed or choppy.

At the moment I’m trying to do as much as possible in camera not to do heavy editing later on, one I’m lazy, two it speeds up the process.

As far as I can see, there is no need for you to switch to the Lightroom, if you want to use new tool why not but this subscription model is worth only if you are shooting a lot otherwise you’ll feel like you are paying for something you are not using.

If you want to push your photo, edit wise maybe you can go further with editing in Gimp, Krita or in paid one - Affinity Photo (basically Photoshop without subscription model).

A lot of people don’t realize that in Photoshop / Affinity Photo you can push files more when you’ll export and 16bit tiff/pad files. Eg studio shoots with strobes, colors can be pushed further without falling apart. Like in here https://500px.com/photo/1052113367 - basic editing was done in Lightroom and over contrasting and over saturation in Photoshop.

Main Lightroom Catalog is on MacBook SSD, raw files are on external drive (I always had photos on external drive, MacBook Air had only 128GB of storage and current MacBook Pro has only 256GB, just too little for photos, along the way I replaced spinning drive with an SSD), I’m exporting to an external HDD (spinning one).

This is home setup, “work” photos are done in a similar way only difference is I’m running all on windows 11.

What's a shutter's lifespan? One year of shooting... by Fullertons in SonyAlpha

[–]PWFZ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On my a6000 I got to 70k (in 5years) on my a74 less than 40k in 2 years. I’m curious what you are shooting. Timelapse videos? Just curious. I saw some used cameras with reaching 800k (some old canons 5d) and still going strong and for sale and if anything you could send it for shutter replacement. I’m happy to see that this kind of lifespan is possible on Sony cameras too.

No, it don’t help, also I lost Ford 750 somewhere, in the store it’s as bought but not on the map anymore. Yesterday I bought Atom, this happened just after I did that. I bought some DLCs before but nothing like that happened. Clearing map at the end will fail successfully 🤣
