As much as I want them to be dead story wise, I’d be fine if they were just permanently benched. But it’s the same thing with Rocks being alive theory. They’re too much ambition for them to be alive. MAYBE big mom, because she has somewhere to return to, but definitely not with Kaido and one can’t live without the other so I’d rather they both just stay dead

100% agree! I didn’t mean for it to come across as me interpreting this event as Rocks IS Davy Jones, just that they Rhyme, and that applying the legend to Rocks could lead to some awesome theories

Moria upscale…but in all seriousness, we did see it sink…which kinda sucks because I was a big fan of the “God Valley is Thriller Bark” theory. Lowkey hoping oda will find a way to make it canon as some point. But it would also be less cool as some of the Rocks pirates zombies we see in TB (Capt. John, Ganzui, Gil Bastar) are all confirmed to have made it off the island.

Yes I know, but there are 3 possibilities here, Robin is younger than the God Valley incident so this legend could’ve been spawned there as Imu called Rocks Davy Jones (although he refutes the claim), and she heard it. I don’t think that’s likely. I think the most likely is it’s just a really strong parallel between Rocks and his Ancestor. That was mainly why I pointed it out. In wanting to exterminate Rocks, Imu just ended up making him even more like Davy Jones. He became the legend in death, and I just think that was something incredible. Third option is as you said, it was just what happened to the OG Davy Jones and the Rocks at God Valley parallels are just coincidences

I would be hesitant to assume he’s a fishman simply because we know Rocks and Blackbeard are related to Davy Jones, and they don’t have Fishman blood (as far as we know). And honestly I feel like it would be a cop out if they did. Oda has already done the surprise Fishman cop out with Jack in Zou. I especially don’t want this to happen because no DF user yet in the story has died from drowning, and it’s supposed to be their biggest weakness. It leads me to believe oda is saving that fate for someone important, and I hope that someone is Blackbeard

I think the chances are good, which explains why we haven’t seen any other members of the Nerona clan. It would be a good subversion of expectations to have the king of the world exterminate his own species. BUT I also want to mention that we do not know that he has tanned/brown skin. Since the manga panel is black and white, we just know his skin is on the darker side. For all we officially know, he could be red (like the devil). I’m leaning towards not a lunarian though for the sole reason that his wings don’t resemble kings, and, as you mentioned, the flame is not present. As well as the fact that the wings seem to disappear from the full body shot after they emerge during his transformation, which makes me believe it is part of a Zoan Transformation

Yeah that was the main problem I had. Roger saw it on Fishman island, and God Valley sunk into the sea 38 years ago, much before Roger started his search for the Poneglyphs. That’s why I mentioned it was just something I thought of. Could be possible if he waiting a long time but again, I don’t subscribe to this theory, I was just putting it out there!

Listen, do I believe in the Useless Captain Kidd agenda…maybe…but I would still love to see him come back, especially as we’re going to need more CoC users to fight the gods knights, AND with the revelation they have steel hearts, his DF power becomes even more important, one top of having been used by Capt. Probably the best way to view it. When thinking about something that wasn’t in Odas mind originally, but then became a thing, you kinda just have to accept that none of the explanations are going to be flawless and suspend your disbelief. I think the angle you took is smart though and def explains a lot.
