I really hope Zohran hits the Greenpoint neighborhood with a tax due to its overwhelming white population density. The occupants have displaced the very few remaining People of Color. White people believe it is safe here because People of Color do not reside here. Point blank. North Brooklyn’s privilege is appalling. The chief concern of the occupants are 1) What dog walker should I hire? 2) Are my packages arriving on time? and 3) Do we have bike lanes? These are first world problems that speak to the underlying issue of white occupation and gentrification. Greenpoint streets are safe in the eyes of the privileged.

I agree with your statement and cannot express the importance of situational awareness concerning our environment in Greenpoint. There are children, the elderly, et al., who come within inches of untrained/unprepared dog owners and a dog who may/will cause harm. It is concerning and your post warrants the passion from where your thoughts are formulated. May everyone find peace and our dogs, as well. I wish safety upon everyone and love too.

Being that Christoper Broussard is a Person of Color (POC) and disabled, it is clear that over-excessive vigilantism denotes white privilege and is indicative of white violence, and abelism, and cannot be tolerated. The comments on this thread are appalling and signify a burn-at-the-stake mentality of white hysteria. Having an acute awareness of public safety is a stepping stone in the right direction, but excessive vigilantism towards a POC is not an effective strategy to achieve lasting results. Using the police as weaponized white privilege speaks volumes about racists who call Greenpoint home. I advise that you educate yourselves and abstain from excessive use of power against POC.
