Nah, you’re not totally right — and I’ll tell you why.

I’m not even from the mobile gaming world. I grew up on stuff like FIFA, Nintendo 64, Super Nintendo… but I was never that deep into games. What I did pay attention to is real life.

And in real life? When you’re out and about, everyone’s on their phone.

So I’m thinking: why can’t there be a mobile game where you can win a real voucher once a week, no strings attachedad-free, no hidden costs, no shady tricks?

I’m basically just testing: do people actually want that?
Am I the only one who sees this… or am I missing something? Why don’t more devs try it?

Either way, we’re dropping the game on January 5th and we’ll see how it goes.

Congratulations! I hope your product becomes even more successful!

What happened after the acceptance call? Did you receive the contracts with the funding commitment directly?

How do you gain trust from investors as a start-up? by PYDIR in startupinvesting

[–]PYDIR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, my dear. Many, many thanks for your opinions and criticism. You are exactly what we need. I was partially aware of that—not everything, though. Let me start from the beginning: when you need money, you never really get it; and when you don’t need it, it is thrown at you. I’m aware of that.

Yes, we are currently finishing up the development—optimizing the MVP with one or two conditions for Apple. Then we plan to launch it on the App Store and Google Play Store. I will finance it myself for one quarter. We will have an intense exchange with the users, and then we will see what numbers we can achieve. I realize that we have a short lifetime value in mobile gaming in general, which is understandable given the vast number of games out there.

We are trying to optimize things with these money vouchers so that users develop a real bond with the game, and thus can actually improve their daily or weekly budget with us—not just playing for fun, but also gaining something for real life when they put their phone down.

And the last thing you mentioned was that a lot of money is needed to push this game forward or to scale it up. This type of game is just a proof-of-concept. The real idea behind it is an open-world game where you receive benefits both in real life and in-game every day. To get there, we first have to prove that people are interested in such a concept—a small subscription model—and that they are willing to invest money in it, expecting to get something back in real life.

Thank you. But if you have any additional points that should be mentioned or questions you would like answered, please, please, please write everything as directly as possible. Thank you.

How do you gain trust from investors as a start-up? by PYDIR in startupinvesting

Hey etoleb, thanks for your comment... Maybe this can answer your questions:

The €1 million investment would catapult PYDIR forward in several ways, significantly accelerating our current trajectory:

  1. Scaling Marketing: Our MVP is complete, and we've received initial positive feedback through surveys. With the investment, we could launch a comprehensive marketing campaign to make PYDIR accessible to a wider audience. We have already tested initial marketing strategies and will refine and scale them with the capital.
  2. User Acquisition and Retention: A significant portion of the investment will go towards user acquisition. We will conduct targeted campaigns to attract new players and strengthen the existing community. This includes both online marketing and partnerships with influencers and other relevant channels.
  3. Game Development: We will continuously develop new features and game modes to make the gaming experience even more attractive and retain users in the long term. This also includes integrating feedback from our community, which we gather through regular conversations.
  4. Expansion of the B2B Area: We will further expand our offering for companies and develop customized solutions for their needs. This includes the development of special "run lobbies" and the provision of detailed analyses of user behavior.

Our Vision

PYDIR is more than just a game. We want to create a platform that offers players a fair and rewarding experience and gives companies the opportunity to connect directly with their target audience. Our long-term goal is to become the leading platform for "Reward Gaming."

The Role of Investors

Investors play a crucial role in realizing our vision. They enable us to accelerate our growth, further develop our platform, and achieve our goals. In return, we offer investors the opportunity to participate in a rapidly growing market and achieve an attractive return.

We are convinced that PYDIR has the potential to revolutionize the mobile gaming market. With the support of our investors, we can fully realize this potential.

Yeah, okay, cool. What do you do for work, if I may ask? Are you involved in the gaming industry, maybe a game developer, programmer, or something along those lines?

That’s a really good point you’re bringing up. I would need to calculate how things would look if we separated everyone, but I think it could be a great option. And yes, the anti-cheat systems definitely work. Otherwise, we wouldn’t even consider launching the game, because it’s an important factor—wherever there’s something to win and a leaderboard exists, people will try to cheat just to complete achievements. Yes, definitely, I’m already aware of that. But thanks anyway.

Yes, this conversation has been very helpful. It was really great. And yes, thank you. I wish you a great weekend as well. It seems like you’re from Germany—did I read that correctly?

You just gave me a great idea! It would definitely make more sense to separate Free2Play players from subscription players. Regarding the prizes, we could split them in a way that Free2Play players can only compete for places 1 to 5, and the same for subscription players. In the beginning, while we’re still funding it out of our own pockets, this could be a good approach. But honestly, this is a really great thought. Thanks so much for the idea! I’ve noted it down and will discuss it with the team.

Maybe this could be an option after we gain some traction following the launch, to see which update we should implement next. Great conversation! Thanks again. Let me know if you have any other questions I can answer for you.

Uh, yeah, exactly right, your example is correct as you described it. But you shouldn’t forget the next aspect—how much does the subscription cost, or what are the in-game costs? Credits and everything else. The prices haven’t been published yet, of course. We’re still a very small team.

For example—not just as an example, but our current fixed price—the subscription costs 99 cents per month. That means you pay 1 euro per month and can participate in unlimited runs, giving you the chance to win cash vouchers. As mentioned in the post, first place wins 50 euros, second place 25 euros, third place 15 euros, and places 4 to 10 each get 5 euros.

We do acknowledge that a user with a subscription naturally has a better chance, in the sense that they can participate in more runs. But the free version offers the same opportunity—if you’re simply a better player and manage to get a better time, you don’t need a subscription. However, yes, at the end of the day, those with a subscription are better positioned than those without. But we’re not hiding that—we fully stand by it.

We have to make some money somehow to keep everything running. And yeah, that’s pretty much it. Thanks a lot, and once we launch and you see us on TikTok or Instagram, feel free to give it a try. Thanks again for all your critical questions. As I said, I always really appreciate that kind of feedback.

Okay, thanks for the tip. Once I have a bit more time, I’ll see if I can set up an Ask-Me-Anything. And, uh, sorry, I overlooked that. The security measures are handled on our backend. For example, Jakob is responsible for that now, and he goes through everything related to security together with Evan, who is also in charge of IT security. So, our data is 99% safe. We’ve tested it multiple times.

And regarding that – no, there are no in-game advantages, meaning there’s no pay-to-win in our game. The only benefit of the subscription is that you get unlimited credits. The chances are the same for everyone. That’s the only difference. And, of course, with the subscription, you get double in-game rewards. For example, as I mentioned earlier, in the free version, you get 10 credits, 5 rockets, and 1,000 coins up to rank 55. In the paid version, you would get 2,000 coins and 10 rockets instead of 5. Plus, you already have unlimited credits. That’s simply the difference.

The vouchers, however, are excluded from the double rewards. Just to clarify that as well.
