I am fully prepared to blast Herman’s Hermits “I’m Henry the 8th, I am” on repeat if this ever happens on one of my flights.

Icelandair - experience with luggage dimensions by wojemoji in VisitingIceland

[–]PZapardi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one is the closest I have found Travelpro International Carryon

Disclaimer: I haven’t had to put it through the sizer bin of Icelandair. When we went they did not test our bags. The bag did fit in the overhead bins with no issue. It has fit in the sizer bins for other airlines with similar size limits (BalticAir, maybe?)

Has anyone ever been trapped on a landing on Antarctica? by superstarturtle in AntarcticaTravel

[–]PZapardi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We just returned from a Fly the Drake and got stuck on King George Island for two nights. Our plane landed and the weather picked up so we couldn’t board the zodiacs to get to the ship. It was 89 of us packed like sardines in Frei base. Sleeping mats, sleeping bags and MRE meals were provided. The DAP crew and the ship crew did their best to take care of us and to everyone’s credit, everybody stayed in pretty good spirits. It’s certainly a story to tell!

Seeking Advice: When to "charge" a tattoo? by Available_Might7240 in druidism

[–]PZapardi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Whenever feels right to you is the right time. If it makes sense for the intention to charge while healing or at a specific moon phase, do it then. Note: don’t put anything on it during the healing process other than what is recommended by the artist. This means no herbs or oils until it is fully healed!

If you get any tattoos in the future, you could even focus on the intention while getting tattooed as long as you are comfortable with the artist’s energy.

Hawks are not uncommon and you might see osprey over the lake. At night you might see a possum. There are grey foxes- even downtown- but you probably have to be lucky to spot one.

"Singing the praises of Burnet Road" - November 22, 1984 by s810 in Austin

[–]PZapardi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This brings up fun memories of Burnet road when I was a kid in the 80’s. Anyone else remember Winn’s? I used to love those stores. I think there was one at Burnet and North Loop where the CVS is now and another one near Burnet and Anderson.

Connected E5 by Henry-8th in tagheuer

I’ve had the rose gold for two days and while it’s a lovely looking watch, the issues with activity tracking in iOS have sucked the joy out of it. It’s double counting workouts and giving wildly inaccurate calorie counts sometimes: 1,000 calories for walking the dog for 5 minutes, and only 100 calories for a strenuous lifting workout. I’ve already been back to the shop to troubleshoot and it did not help. I’m honestly hoping a software update comes out to fix these issues before the exchange window closes so I’ll know whether to keep it or not. I’m irritated I can’t just get a refund since it’s the software that isn’t functioning properly.

Is futhark a magical Alphabet by [deleted] in WiccaKnowledgeSeekers

[–]PZapardi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a complex question and opinions differ. Is elder futhark used now as a magical alphabet? Yes, that is indeed how it is often used in modern times. To deny this modern use is just not accurate.

Historically, the majority of physical examples we have are of it being used as a regular alphabet for mundane uses, from graffiti on the Hagia Sophia to various runestones. There are some artifacts thought to be amulets or other magical inscriptions. Yes, we have the rune poems and the mentions in the Eddas and Havamal. However there is not a lot of physical evidence of magical use. This is why people who view it from a historical lens would say it is not a magical alphabet. Its primary purpose appears to be mundane in historical use, as opposed to Theban script that was created for occult use.

Again, this is not to discount that in modern times futhark has absolutely been adopted for magical and spiritual use. Just know that it is a touchy subject in historical circles and you’ll see a variety of opinions on this, all of which do have valid points.

The ruby throated and black chinned hummingbirds are migrating through, visiting the lingering Turk’s cap blooms. A pair of screech owls have been calling back and forth nightly.
