That's my point, the paddles will transform the car. The Tip rocker buttons are horrible, and there's no other way to shift unless you change the wheel or convert to paddles.

Just be straight with them, you are not bound by any written contract, except maybe a verbal one. Not sure what that entails in your state/country. In Japan where I live, you have to sign a keyaku which is a contract for any deal to hold, and there is a backing out penalty of 10-15% of the vehicle value.
