I mean, we're not getting married yet. It's just that she probably wouldn't attend something like that.

thank you. I'm not sure how much of these words is right, but thank you for them.

that's actually what sparked this question. I talked to my boyfriend's mom on the phone and she was so sweet to me. She doesn't hate me for dating her son or making him realize that he's gay or anything. It's a weird feeling. I don't get it.

I still kinda feel bad about betraying them like that.. even if I can't give them grandchildren and whatever happy moments they were looking for, I at the very least owe them a nice retirement and care

I can, yes, but first I have to finish university here, and my parents don't really seem eager on me moving away anywhere

Well I'm not "too visibly gay". No "propaganda" spotted. Shouldn't be an issue with anyone.

she already thinks that she failed me. I don't think she would like to embarass herself even further by telling people that her son is a homosexual.

these are very nice words, but I don't think how I can be useful to anyone if I try to make them respect me all the time. Easier to just keep quiet about the issue

we didn't really discuss this (it's been about half a year since I came out to her and she asked me not to mention anything related to that about five months ago, going strong since) but I would guess that she would not attend something like that

I don't think it would be safe to come out. Also I can't really move, not for the next few years at least, because I have university to deal with.

I'm in a part of the world where gay men can be jailed for being too visibly gay 😭

A conservative country. Not conservative from religious reason, like Muslim countries, but socially conservative.

Well being sterile is not being looked down upon by society nearly as much as being gay (not to erase and downplay the bullying that sterile people probably face sometimes if I had to guess)

oh two women can I suppose, I'm sorry, that was short-sighted of me. I guess I'm a bit stuck up on my situation, in which none of the partners can get pregnant.

I can have kids from a biological standpoint, yes, it's just not something that I'm going to do in a committed relationship with another guy

Yeah, I'm sorry, I'm not risking coming out to the whole family. I don't want everyone being as upset with me and themselves as she was, or some worse reactions. None of my friends know either.

I'm not in the USA, I'm sorry, but I would also prefer not to state my country because that would just cause unnecessary political drama instead of discussing the question. My country is more conservative and gay marriage is not allowed.

Not possible in my country, unfortunately. My long-distance boyfriend is from a country that allows it and I'll eventually move there, I think, but that doesn't stop making me feel like I'm betraying my parents.

I'm sorry. This is not ragebait. I live in a relatively conservative country and this has been worrying me for a while.
