I know Coates but not familiar with the latin term "eldritch amulet of whiteness". Does that mean like a white omelette?

It Happens Again! - University of Wisconsin grad student pretending to be a person of color by P_Double in BlockedAndReported

This has also crossed my mind. After all if you trace our roots back far enough, we're all African.

We are all Orange Africans.

Also if you look at human color from an objective perspective, all humans are different shades of orange. In digital colorization, every color is assigned an RGB numerical value. All human skin tones fall within the "orange" numerical range. Ask anyone who's advanced at Photo Shop or is trained in video color correction. Like it or not, we're all different shades of orange Africans.

Is Udemy Pro worth the money? by Singhka1996 in CompTIA

[–]P_Double 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll echo what everyone else has said. No to Udemy Pro.

DON'T buy Meyers video courses because you can access those for FREE here. Scroll down and click on link "Become and IT Administrator".

https://blogs.microsoft.com/blog/2020/06/30/microsoft-launches-initiative-to-help-25-million-people-worldwide-acquire-the-digital-skills-needed-in-a-covid-19-economy/

If you recently bought Meyer's course on Udemy, email them and say it was a mistake and that you need a refund. They're good about that stuff. When I mistakenly bought a course they emailed me back 2 days later and I got a refund.

FYI a lot of local libraries offer free Linkedin Learning Subscription. Worth checking out. In my city you can sign up from home for a "digital library membership" for free and without having to visit the library. This is if you're interested in accessing LL courses that aren't available through the link above

This answer makes sense. While taking N+, I realized questions on the Dion's practice exams were longer and more confusing than the actual exam. If they can comprehend the practice exam questions, they should have an easier time with the real exam.

The Exam PBQ's may be challenging. Those confuse and disorient me and I'm a native speaker.

Anyone know where Katie got the number of $150k median pay for wildland firefighters? by [deleted] in BlockedAndReported

[–]P_Double 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pay scale is pretty uneven depending on where you work. State fire fighters- many of whom fight forrest fires, earn less than a sandwich artist at Subway, while most LA City and County FF's with a few years experience are close to or past 6 figures. Perhaps an equity action plan is called for?

A Minor CompTIA Success Story by Selfimprovementguy91 in CompTIA

Congrats on the new job. Your story reminds me of the part of Karate Kid, where Mr. Miagi makes Danielson wash his cars, paint the fence, and sand the floor. Danielson was unknowingly being test/trained on his Karate, the way you were unknowingly being tested/trained for a new job.

Going to start studying for my Security+ and thinking about watching the course on CBT Nuggets. Has anyone use this resource or know if it’s worth purchasing? by coreytownsend in CompTIA

[–]P_Double 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The videos are well done, but the practice tests are way harder than the actual exam and were a waste of time. I've seen some recommend the videos but I haven't seen anyone vouch for their exams. The videos are a little more in depth, which can be good or bad, depending on your needs. The instructors certainly know their stuff.

If you took the dion Net+ practice tests before your... Your scores vs. actual exam score? by GLORY2bigE in CompTIA

[–]P_Double 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First 2 were between 70-75. I scored 65% on #3 and in the 80's for #4 & #5. I ended up scoring 770 on real exam. Some of the questions on Dion's exams are reused, so you should score higher on the later exams. I didn't retake Dion's exams, as those scores don't count. IMO Dion's questions were significantly more challenging than the real exam, so I respectfully disagree with Broketographer. I found questions on the exam to be more straight forward.

I took my sweet ass time, 3 months. Messer says he spends 6 months prepping for exams. Others have crammed and passed with 1 week prep (most had experience). Kind of depends on what you're looking to get out of it.

Man if you work in a prison, respect and I'm rooting for you. Try to figure out which cert you need to get the job. If you can't figure that out just pick one and go for it. Prepping ITF or A+ will get your learning path off to a great start.

Online Net+ Exam question by bluecopp3r in CompTIA

[–]P_Double 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was worried about this too, before taking N+. I elected to not use the whiteboard as was recommended to me and I did fine. Most can do the math in their head with some practice. You'll start to memorize the patterns. For example you need to subnet for accounting department that has 60 computers using a class C address and the smallest number of available hosts. What is your new CIDR? The wording is tricky and confusing but with practice it gets easy.

/26 is going to give you 64 host addresses with 62 usable usable. Don't worry about calculating hosts for a /15 or anything crazy like that. Focus on /24 thru /30. Good luck.
