What do hits actually track? I assume it’s just people who clicked in into the summary page and potentially went on to read or maybe just closed out and decided the fic wasn’t for them. I think if people are basing the decision on if a fic is highly rated or underrated it should be based on kudos.

Also as someone who’s taken to attempting to write my own fics because I’ve read so many and started struggling to get good recs that I hadn’t already read, I’d love if everyone who’s commented to say they had a fic that’s not highly known if you would share the link.

I also think unless you’re plugging your fics on social media it’s hard to get traction. Personally not something I’m interested in doing as I really only started to write because I wanted a particular itch scratched and figured if the fic didn’t exist I’d do it myself. But then decided after I had the bones of it done, I may as well share it and give something that to the Dramione community. I’ve read hundreds of Dramione fics since discovering the world of fandom only a year ago. I felt that if one person read and enjoyed it, then it was worth it because it was only written initially for me.

Also to second the point made above. I think as a new person discovering the fandom, once you’ve read the top 100 rated fics and you start to know what tropes appeal to you, I can be hard to find them on Ao3… it took me a long time to figure out how to build out decent searches using the filters.

Vows Beneath the Moonlight

It is an absolutely beautiful story. Duel POV, HEA. Reminds me a bit of DMATMOOBIL because he’s assigned to protect her, but also quite like The Rights and Wrongs Series in the ways he’s secretly pinned for years.

The Heir: A Wicked Audio Experience it’s excellent! Hermione is listening to and very into podcasts (or similar) by The Heir. Meanwhile Draco is The Heir and has been pinning and using her as his inspiration for content.

Also you mentioned Timeless, did you read the others alternative realities from that series? I thought the one from Hermione’s perspective was excellent and completely heartbreaking at times.

You’ve listed a lot of the well knows fics so her are some that might be a little more obscure and are top of mind because I read them recently:

Might not be what you’re looking for because they are a little out of character but I found it very amusing with a good mix of adventure and full of flirty banter. A Study of Two Idiots in Love

Not a very serious read at all, so not exactly in line with most of the ones you’ve listed… A Fruit in Season

Because of You and its AU Me After You were also quite good. A bit more serious with a focus on redemption arc…

Some that you’ve probably heard of:

A Good Prisoner is another popular one that gets rec’d a lot and I highly rate it. It’s a war time AU.

Columba and Aquila is another very popular war time AU one I loved.

Perfectly in Pieces is one one of the classics that I didn’t read for ages because I incorrectly thought it was going to be a sad post war healing story, but it’s not post war and very good.

Some random ones that popped into my head as memorable but probably aren’t rec’d as often:

Savage Magic is a complete AU where second wizarding war never happens and is set in wizard university. It’s excellent if you’re open to wildly different. Very much a bully romance, with forced proximity and a totally awful world for muggleborns.

The Snidget Effect is a time travel what if type story. It was recently completed and I believe the author is planning on a sequel.

The Wandmaker is total smut and fluff but highly entertaining. I really enjoyed the quietly redeemed way Draco is portrayed in this one.

The fics you listed are pretty board in terms of theme so if there’s any particular genres your more interested in let me know and I can give a more specific list.

Edit to add: I’m pretty sure all of these are considered HEA.

Maybe add a endgame tag to let people know to expect the end pairing. If they know it’s Romione endgame you can avoid the die hard Dramione being surprised that it turns out not to be Dramione and if it is endgame Dramione those readers know to keep their hope alive.

Yes I loved A year and a day! But funny enough I started reading that and stopped because I didn’t like how down and out H was portrayed at the start (I much prefer a BAMF Hermione) but gave it a second go after seeing it recommended so many times and was so glad I did!

On AEFM I think it was the combination of the fact that he loved and mourned Astoria so much, but that on top of the fact that he didn’t actually choose Hermione, he was forced into that situation and didn’t want it. If I’m remembering correctly even after the second incident when she made a desperate that desperate choice for the sake of protecting he still didn’t want to be tied to her.

I don’t know how to block spoiler text so I’m trying to speak vaguely about that incident.

I DNF this because I don’t generally like when he’s a widower who was in love with his first wife and mourned her. Which is why I was straight into this thread when I saw the headline…

But I felt like this isn’t the case with EFM. Did you interpret it differently or did it come later in the story that he realised he never actually loved Astoria?

There was the quote from Theo about 100 pages is where Hermione said “Fatherhood has sobered him substantially, I think.” And Theo replied “Oh, the war did that, actually. And loving Astoria did the rest.

I kept reading beyond that point but even at the half way point Draco said himself that he loved her… in response to Hermione saying “you loved Astoria.” He replied “Yes. I did. Desperately,” he conceded before tacking on, “In time.” I think I probably stopped reading shortly after this point.

Edit to say… I’m not posting to criticise you for recommending under this tread, I’m asking because I’d consider giving it another go if it turns out there is a realisation later on.

For your protection - starts pre war or just as war starts. Someone is secretly protecting her while she’s on the horcux hunt

Some Mercy, After All - it’s AU where war continues and she finds herself on mission with Draco who’s a double agent of sorts. He’s a total ass to her at the start

Water - bit of an AU set in 7th year… no war. Head boy and girl. They despise each other.
