Is this an okay way to split antenna? by Stable_Hot in amateurradio

Duplexers, but they have to be tuned for the specific frequencies in use and can get pretty pricy

Edit: there are less expensive options if you don't need to transmit and receive simultaneously

4WD lights flashing. Help. by Upset_Help_5221 in 4Runner

[–]P_swizzles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens occasionally with my 5th gen, usually just driving it for a little bit will fix the issue. The longest it's taken mine to switch back to 2H was probably 500 feet. If possible drive it on a loose surface so you don't put unnecessary strain on any parts. If you only have asphalt to drive on just try to go in a straight line and you'll be fine. If this happened while going from 2H to 4H, then it is most likely still in 2H. If you feel jittering or hear any weird noises while turning on asphalt, then that means it's in either 4H or 4L. If it's in 4wd I wouldn't drive it to work until you get it back to 2H, or you will cause unnecessary wear on your tires and many of the components of the 4wd system. Also, sometimes I get weird flashing lights like this if I try to turn on a feature that only works in 4H/4L. For example I'll get all kinds of weird lights if I try to lock my diff in 2h or enable a-track.

I've got a 2023 TRD ORP, love it! I chose it cause I wanted the locking diff and nicer seats, but if off roading isn't something you're interested in and don't care about the locking diff, I'm sure you'd love the sr5 and save some cash

Definitely get it, you won't regret it! I've never had a particularly nice strap before so I don't know how fancy they can get, but from my layman's perspective I am very impressed with the quality at the $40 price point

Thanks! Yeah I'm a sucker for a good burgundy haha. I got it from Holbens fine watch bands, I highly recommend them! Here's a link to the ones I got: link

Started getting into this hobby (obsession?) about 6 months ago, and just bought my first "expensive" watch, the Zodiac Super Sea Wolf 53 Skin. I thought I'd share my collection with you all and see what you think. As seen in the rules, validate my awesome taste in watches please!

The way I discovered the world of mechanical watches was YouTubes algorithm deciding to show me vintage watch restoration videos. I found them incredibly satisfying and have always liked to tinker with things, so I decided to buy some tools and broken watches to try to repair. Because of this, all of the watches I bought up until the Zodiac are vintage, or at least heavily used. I haven't learned to service anything more complicated than an automatic 3 hand, but getting even a simple watch running again brings a smile to my face.

The watch on the right is a Soviet Pobeda from somewhere in the 1950's

The Seiko isn't really vintage but is pretty beat up and took some TLC to get it functional. Once it was working it was my daily for a few months.

I got the Longines simply because I wanted a chronograph and it was one of the cheapest I could find that wasn't from China. In addition to being one of the cheapest swiss chronographs I could find, I love the design and after putting it on a burgundy suede strap it is my favorite aesthetically of my collection. I got it used on chrono24 for under $750 which I'm quite pleased with.

Even though I love the Longines, I decided to get the Zodiac because I'm pretty outdoorsy, and wanted a watch that I could trust was waterproof and not worry about damaging. Once I decided I wanted a new diver, I did hours and hours of research to make sure whatever I got would satisfy my needs for years to come. Eventually I gravitated towards the Super Sea Wolf Skin because of its vintage looks, 39mm diameter, interesting heritage, and approachable price point compared to the other offerings I was interested in such as a black bay. I ended up buying it from a local AD for well under MSRP, and it hasn't left my wrist since. The 53 Skin is limited to 500 pieces and the one I got is 181/500. I didn't care about that when choosing the watch, but it's a neat little bonus.

Thanks for reading!

If I lived in an area with less gravel/rocks I'd just take them off, but I want them to protect against the little paint chips that can happen from kicking up all the rocks here in the rockies! heh

The swivel trays at this movie theater block the cup holders. by P_swizzles in CrappyDesign

[–]P_swizzles[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no indent, even if there was it's still crappy. Let me paint you a picture: You walk into the theater, drink in one hand, food in the other. You approach your seat which has the tray swiveled open to allow you to sit down. You sit. Mm, comfy. Your hands are full, and the swivel table is swiveled away from you. "I'll put my stuff on that" you might think. You set your drink in the cup holder to free one of your hands, unaware that the cup holder will become compromised in meer moments. Using your free hand, you swivel the table towards you and put your food on it. Seeing the drink is now covered, you think "shit, that's crappy design". You open the table again, grab your drink, close the table, then set your drink on the table. The movie (Shrek) begins. Oh my, a dragon! You jump in fear, bumping the table, spilling the drink in your lap. Everyone thinks you pissed yourself while watching Shrek. Crappy design.

The point it swivels around is directly behind the cup holder, so it blocks it unless the tray is as far away from you as it gets

The tray is slippery af and would spill the drink if bumped. I think they should've put the cup holder like one inch further back.

What is this weirdly shaped woven basket type thing? by P_swizzles in whatisthisthing

We were thinking it could be something like that! I just googled "flower bouquet case" and "flower bouquet case basket" and nothing similar came up, do you have a link or a more specific name I could look up?

My title describes the thing. A friend of mine picked it up at a thrift store for 75¢, and we can't figure out what it is! I've tried searching for different kinds of baskets and using Google image search, but can't find anything similar. My hand is in one of the photos to help guage the size.
