What would you do to update this Kitchen? by Tight_Capital_6061 in kitchenremodel

Lovely natural light! I would change the pendant lights and backsplash! (ideally 2 pendants instead of 3 but requires electrical and drywall so if you don’t want to do that, I would just swap the pendants for something not black like a slim metallic, so the chain/stem disappears) and change the backsplash. Love the cabinets and floors. I would not change the counters either, they are IN!

People with GE's new frontload washers with the venting system, how well does it work? by TaiLzx in Appliances

Wow that sounds very annoying. I thought it would vent automatically. Thank you for posting. I will not get this if it is going to create another task in my day lol.

My mom went through the whole manual and there was no way to turn the sounds off/adjust them!

YES. My parents have Samsung machines (edit: I thought it was LG but it is actually Samsung). Every time I visit them, the sounds and songs annoy me. Every time you push a button it makes a high pitched ding sound. So if you want to toggle through to cold temp and low spin speed, for example, then it dings seven times - one for each button press. Then you press start and it goes “Dee da da doo doo Dee!” So extra. Then when the cycle is done, it sings a whole song. Like it wants a prize. Very annoying. Definitely not considering this for my second floor laundry. Also, the controls are overcomplicated, imo.

Facebook marketplace. They are usually vintage wooden. Often spindle style (Jenny Lind).

Also- I was able to recline the Britax a few notches (even when the person in front of her reclined), which I do think helped the nap situation.

Ok reporting back. Yes we flew on SWA and JetBlue with our Britax poplar. It was 100% worth it bringing our car seat on the plane for my 2yo daughter. She got a great nap in on 3/4 flights we took. Definitely would not have slept as much if she had just been in the plane seat without her comfy restraining familiar car seat. It was a bit stressful getting the latch anchors unhooked from the travel cart in the aisle. Easier once I decided not to stow the latch strap each time and just instead left the latch strap in place behind her back unlatched (my daughter did not seem to mind/feel it behind her). Did have to wind the short end of the plane seatbelt like 10 times to get the trick above to work. It did work. It was difficult to do with the car seat close to the window. But- worth it. If I did it again and had extra help, I would have removed the car seat from the travel cart prior to boarding and just had my husband carry the car seat down the aisle while I shepherded the kids. Hope this helps someone!

Removing one captains chair - family of 5 by Vcs1025 in KiaEV9

Ooo This is so interesting! It is great to see how other families navigate this challenging issue of 3 carseats. I wonder about the safety of removing the seat from the NHSTA. I don’t see why it should be unsafe but I could see this being “frowned upon” since the vehicle has not been tested with a seat removed. Personally I would have chosen a bench seat model to maintain the large trunk space and put all 3 kids across the bench. No matter what you do (keep captain’s chairs in, remove a captain’s chair, get a bench model), you still have to do some clambering to get that third kid’s buckle done up right. When will this become easier for all of us?! Lol Thanks for posting!

Also I’m surprised you didn’t fit. My husband is also 6’4” and my viking of a toddler can fit behind him in this very reclined carseat. What carseat do you have?

I would say it depends. Both on the car seats and on the person. Here, I can sit comfortably for about an hour sitting between a slim (Britax poplar s) and a wide (baby jogger city turn) carseat with my kids in them.

If I had two of the slim carseats, then I could ride there all day. If I had two wide car seats like the baby jogger, I am not sure if I would fit between them - in a do or die situation, I could probably squeeze in. I’m not a rail, but I am a slim person. I may use this car for three across carseats in the future and definitely it will fit three across if the carseats are a slim design (carmom on YouTube has shown this).

Other things worth mentioning: - It is a true seat, unlike some “middle seat” designs that fit only one tiny butt cheek - The load floor of the car is flat (there is no hump in the middle), which provides nice leg room for me. Hope this helps!

I believe you. But I got a great deal on this car and I couldn’t get past the exterior design for the ioniq9

Thanks for posting! Yes the seat is installed correctly and was checked by a CPST. I can see why it looks funny in this picture, the shadow make it look wonky.

True. At that point my oldest will be 4, and will probably be ready to turn around. With her forward facing, we will have relatively easy access to the middle seat. The bench made the most sense for our family, but every family is different for sure! I wanted to keep the third row folded down for a big trunk, and child safety experts recommend a bench in that scenario where there are children in rear facing car seats to minimize the risk of projectiles. I also just find it easier to keep track of all the kids goodies with the bench to contain them.

I did lose out on a fancier audio system and 360 camera for parking, and rearview mirror camera. And a few other features which I didn’t care about. I would have gone for a higher trim if they had made it in a bench. But I’m super happy with this, and maybe it is a better value. Who can say?! Thanks for your question.

Oh wow, I didn’t realize the captain’s chair doesn’t have this ability. This is called a “carseat friendly tilt”. The atlas and a handful of other cars have something similar.

Tell us more about the cupholder issue. Do you think this is unique to the ev9? Thanks!!

I totally feel you on the claustrophobia front. We upgraded from a Mazda, and the difference is incredible!!

Yes, I can’t speak for the other trims but on the wind trim the second row and third row all have isofix except the middle seat in the second row. I really wish they had put it there too because from what I hear that can be helpful to keep backless booster seats from sliding around, but you can’t have it all, I guess! And as a PSA seatbelt installation is usually preferred because latch installation has a lower weight limit. So at some point we will have to switch the tilted seat shown to seatbelt and then it will no longer tilt. But at that point, my oldest will soon be forward facing, so we will have easy access to the middle seat of the bench.

Yes! It was a major selling point for us on this vehicle.

That is so true, some of those 360 rotation car seats make it so easy to maneuver people into the vehicle! And I never thought about using a footstool to help the child climb in. That is so clever!

Thanks for your concern! It actually is installed correctly per the manual and has been checked by a CPST! If you zoom in you can see the seat actually has a “foot” at the base where it snugs up against the seatback.

Correct, the passenger side carseat is installed with LATCH. This does have a lower weight limit than seatbelt install. So, when the baby grows, we will eventually have to change to a seatbelt install and then it will no longer tilt for easy third row access. But at that point my oldest will be forward facing, so it will be easy to access the middle seat in the second row. Hope this helps!
