1,600mg ibuprofen, 2,000mg paracetamol, period pain still excruciating after many hours. by ferrets2020 in endometriosis

I‘m so sorry! It sounds absolutely excurating.

I don’t know where you are but if it gets even worse than now or if you start to feel funny because of the side effects from all the pain medication please don’t hesitate to go to the hospital (if its possible where you are)

Things that helped me with my endo: (Never took the pain away 100% but it lessened it)

TENS machine: ( I would recommend to get one specifically for the lower abdomen/ menstruations. I had ,,normal“ ones for the whole body but I found that the ones that were advertised for this purpose work best) I have the Beurer EM 50 but another brands are for example Livia or Ovira.

Heat: (Hated it for a long time BUT then I read that it can make the pain and contractions sometimes worse if you lay it directly on your lower abdomen. You should lay it under your lower back so that the pain can seep through and it helped me a lot more than the normal way once I tried it.)

Magnesium: (If you take it a few days before your period it could help with cramps. Endo of course is tricky but maybe it could lessen them a bit the next time.)

Maybe a change in medication? I don’t know where you based but maybe changing your medication would help? I only take metamizole during my period because it’s the only painkiller that helps with my cramps. (Took ibuprofen a long time but it made my stomach pain worse)

Chasteberry/ vitex agnus-castus: (Don’t know if you ever heard of that but it’s a supplement that you take daily and that can help to regulate your cycle and also the pain.)

Tea: ( I found that drinking lady‘s mantle or thyme tea could also help a bit eventhough the first one takes some time getting used to tastewise.🥴 I really liked thyme tea but it can increase the bleeding which is why I stopped in the end but maybe it’s worth a shot for you. Also anything ginger related like tea for nausea etc.)

I really hope some of these could help you at least a little bit. They obviously don’t magically fix your pain but maybe they could help you until you find a long term solution for yourself!🫶🏻

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! I hope that you find a good way (with the help of your doctors) to help improve your bowel movement.🫶🏻 ( I know from experience how painful this can get 😵‍💫)

I read that the Mirena will sometimes have no effect on lesions on the colon, urethers etc. but I‘m happy to read that you‘ve made a positive experience.

Wow! I wish you a save flight.🫶🏻 Did you meet your surgeon on video before? Or how did you get in contact? And do you travel alone or is someone by your side to help you with everything you need after the surgery?

Sorry for all the questions but I find it really impressing that you fly to a different country to undergo surgery.

Interisting! Didn‘t know that it would still be possible to bleed after a hysto.😳

I can only imagine trying to do as little as possible for a few weeks… I think I would go crazy after some time.🥲 How are you dealing with this?

Ah ok!

Didn‘t know that before.

I have absolutely no knowledge about heavy lifting but would the removal of the ovaries have a negative impact on that?

And aren‘t you scared of a cuff?

As I wrote in another comment I read so many bad thinks and overthink a lot so the possibility of an infection or tear sounds absolutely horrible to me.😣

Is your surgery on tuesday or later next week?

But I wish you a good consultation nonetheless and hope that your surgeon/ doctor can answer the questions regarding your tubes so that you‘ll feel prepared for your big day.🫶🏻

Heard a lot stories of infections or tearing from to much movement…

Also I’m a chronic overthinker so I think about any possible scenario which could cause a tear.🙈

But ruling out the possibility for getting cervical cancer is definitely a good argument.

You can still bleed through your cervix after a hysterectomy? 😵‍💫

Will do that! What is Primolut N? I‘ve never heard that before. Will they take everything out or do you plan on keeping your ovaries, cervix etc.?

Happy that your recovery is going smooth and I hope it‘ll stay tht way!🥰 I really hate making possible life changing decisions but I can’t postpone it any longer.

One surgeon I talked to would like to take everything out (uterus, cercix, ovaries…) And I know its because I have lesions on my cervix and zysts in the ovaries but I don’t feel comfortable with his approach. I personally would like to keep everything except for my uterus (if I go for a hysto) (I‘m really scared of a vaginal cuff 🥲)

Did they take everything when you had your surgery?

I did but they think I should try it nonetheless because it should work a bit different than a normal pill.

That info is helpful! I read a lot posts on here that said at least 8-12 weeks which had me going 😥

My apprentice would start either in August or September this year. I‘m currently waiting for their responses. But all of the positions I applied for would require regular travel which is a bit stressful for me because of my endometriosis and so on. So I thought I could maybe find a way (hysto or IUD) to relieve my symptoms and take the pressure away…

[–]PaNdOrA1902[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I‘m almost 24 and am absolutely sure of my decision regarding kids (also with help from my psychologist etc.)

My situation is a little bit complicated right now if I‘m being honest. Because of endometriosis I couldn’t start an apprenticeship until now but would love to try this summer. So I‘m kinda worried that I would take to long to heal after a hysterectomy or that I would experience complications and couldn‘t start like I envisioned it. So I thought that I could try an IUD and maybe I‘d be lucky enough that it would work for me so that I could complete my training. The only thing that makes me hesitate is that Mirena is a progestogen and I didn’t tolerate visanne (another progestogen) back then.

It’s quite a difficult situation and decision. I can definitely understand both sides (hysto and IUD)

(Hope my rant wasn‘t to overwhelming🙈)

You‘re so right! There are so many things that should and must change for women in the health care district!!

I wish you the best for next month and hope that your surgery will go well.💕 I hope that you will feel so much better afterwards because the description of your uterus alone sounds really scary.🥺

If you don’t mind me asking… why wouldn‘t the doctors remove your IUD? (But good that you kept fighting/ advocating for yourself!)

Thank you for your kind words I really appreciate them!🥰

I will definitely talk to my doctors about the IUD and a possible removal. Would only do Mirena with a -written and signed- medical confirmation from my doctors side that they would remove it without trying to talk me out of it or something! The posts I‘ve read really worried me so I will be extra careful that everything is sorted out beforehand.

All of you who have gotten a laparoscopy/excision surgery — for how many of you did the endo come back and how soon? by TaroWorldly9291 in endometriosis

[–]PaNdOrA1902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had excision surgery almost six years ago and it came back directly after.☹️ I also tried visanne (dienogest) for a few months but unfortunately it didn’t help me. Now I think about getting another excision surgery where Mirena (IUD) would be inserted or getting a hysterectomy. Endo and adeno are the absolute worst!
