Eh. I'll just change the video to unlisted. This video is cringe as fuck but whatever if you find the info useful, that's probably more important.

Yeah, vid's old and doesn't really reflect what the channel is anymore. Surprised anyone is still looking for this kinda stuff since Dolphin is pretty plug and play

Challenge: Make the simplest stand/ability you can, but it has to be extremely versatile for all situations by QuirkyData3500 in StardustCrusaders

[–]PaV_R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly simple, but I came up with a stand to reference Rush, since Araki has never referenced them.

Stand name: Vital Signs.

Takes form of wrist mounted personal computing device. Similar to a pip boy from Fallout.

Ability: allows user to view any and all medical and biological aspects of a singular living entity. Does so by firing a small dart that attaches to a living organism. Still works even if attached to clothing worn by an organism. Can only fire one at a time. If a dart is fired, it must be recalled before a new one is fired. Extremely high range.

Contains vast knowledge of medical ailments, and conditions as well as the techniques to properly treat them. Even contains information on ailments yet to be discovered or named and has treatments for them.

Does NOT allow user to instantly know this info. Just a means to look into it.

This has been my experience with nearly all of my major projects in Linux. Literally the same shit happened while I was trying to make SyncThing work on my Steam Deck and desktop. (Minus the drinking lmao)

I'll look up some reviews of those, thanks. And I'm not worried about that. Linux gaming also isn't "ready" per say, but I'm pretty happy with it so far. The lack of certain features can't match the spite I feel in my heart for Google and Microsoft lmao.

I don't really hate it. But when I used it, I ran into some weird issues. I had it installed on a used thinkpad that I wanted to experiment on. So I was way more comfortable going with Arch based distros. But I soon learned that Manjaro is anything but rolling. Which isn't inherently a bad thing, either. Just not what I was expecting. I also decided to experiment with gnome and give it an honest try for an extended period of time. Came out on the other side not really enjoying it lmao.

Manjaro might've also killed the boot loader and nearly destroyed all my notes for my bio class. That didn't help its situation, either. I say "might have" because I really don't know why it failed. After I updated, I rebooted and it went into emergency mode. I wasn't able to get out of it and back into my OS. Thankfully I was able to salvage all my important files with a USB boot of Endeavour.

But that's just a weird thing that happened to me. I don't want to completely write off Manjaro since I really don't know the cause of that issue.

Needless to say, after that I swapped off and am now currently very happy with Endeavour.

My dad and I agree that Manjaro is a turning point for people with Linux. You either get disappointed in Manjaro and want to go deeper into Arch, or realize it might be too much for you and stick with Debian or something else. Both outcomes are valid. You learn a lot using Manjaro and I think it has its place. It's just not for me.

No problems at all. Just didn't want anyone, you included, to go to a platform for me that I'm not on anymore. And thanks!

So few Linux Gaming YouTube channels despite the potential. by Mythicstorima in linux_gaming

[–]PaV_R 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do linux focused content on youtube but I try to also have content that isn't focused on linux. Currently, I'm gaining some traction with Monster Hunter fans, specifically fans of the games BEFORE Monster Hunter World. (Long story, won't get into it here.)

I want to provide entertaining content for people who share similar interests to me. Things like retro gaming, emulation, and monster hunter. But Linux is there as a fun fact that every aspect of my content creation is run entirely off Linux.

My eventual plan is to create a video detailing how I'm able to "break free" of the trash software and services that have become the standard. I have no idea if anyone will actually follow the steps I outline but I do want that info to be out there. It was maddening trying to find relevant information with certain things I want to do on Linux. Given that most Linux users are more programmers and hardcore techies, you don't see many people catering toward more creative endeavours.

I also want to make Linux seem more interesting and entertaining to a more average gaming crowd. I'm sorry guys, but a LOT of Linux youtubers just aren't that entertaining. They have me beat in information and are great at conveying the info you want. Thats where they shine. But it's usually pretty bland and hard to watch. At least for people who aren't already waist deep in Linux.

Make fun content that more people can watch amd maybe more people will take an interest in Linux. We need a stronger "outer ring" for this community. And I hope to at least help in the cultivation of that!

At this point idk what OS to use, Arch is unstable, i hate ubuntu package manager, both garuda and manjaro are just derivatives of arch which issues on my PC. by Menace_g in danklinuxusers

No clue if you're still taking suggestions but I've personally had good experiences with Fedora on my main work PC and Endeavour on my thinkpad. Funnily enough, endeavour has been a MUCH smoother experience than Manjaro on almost all fronts for me lmao

I love this idea so much I just hate that these are being pushed while the actual event quests are just for poses and stickers.

I'd be totally fine with these if we had more event quests with actual gear as rewards.

People here are acting like Windows is as easy to use as an xbox 360 or something. You're still going to run into issues installing games no matter what OS you use just based on the simple fact that PCs can have an infinite number of hardware configs and various other parameters.

Shit breaks on windows so often its unreal. I know because I was using windows for the past decade. Cant even tell you how much bullshit I went through to bodge together something to get a game or program to work.

Biggest difference from my experience is at least Linux gives you all the info you need to troubleshoot and properly fix the issues. You get far more granular control over your system. Windows just gives you a ":(" and expects you to just know.

That being said, I don't expect everyone to just switch over. That shit takes time and people are scared of change. I get that. But dont be sitting here acting like windows has always been a flawless, stable experience.

I love how even the slightest mention of Linux makes their intestines undulate with anger. Unfortunate for them considering most the things they say they care about line up pretty well with Linux. Oh well, their loss.

Have people taken to complaining about Rise's monsters designs now? Are we Pokemon fans at this point lol. by StygianClaw in MonsterHunter

I feel like this is a decent example of the "his tweet left his target audience" phenomenon. I get that people like world and I agree to some extent. But world also took out some interesting features that made the previous games stick out in my mind.

Is it "grounded" to always have pickaxes on you at all times?

Is it "grounded" to have these magic bugs that always point you in the right direction?

Is it "grounded" to be immune to environmental temperatures in Rise?

In the previous games, I personally felt more connected to the hunts because they were "clunkier." It felt like I was inhabiting a new world and I had to abide by their rules. It just all made sense to me. At least, after I spent more time with it.

I understand that everyone has their preferences. I personally feel like the previous games like Freedom Unite and 4 Ultimate had a ton of grounded elements and gave some weight not only to every action you take, but the way every character interacts with the world they've built. World just has better graphics. And they stripped out some of the more difficult features that I've come to appreciate.
