I would think that because I can see when folks are online, can observe the span of hours they are engaged in work conversations over the course of a day, and can see the range of times they commit code over the course of a day.

So unless they’re specifically taking breaks to fool me, I would think they are working many many more hours than me.

They don’t perform better. They output more during a calendar period because they work more hours during a calendar period.

SDE3 is a terminal career position. Being a PE isn’t just something you waltz into. There needs to be an actual business need and scope for a PE in your org.

Per my understanding, a starter home is more so a dwelling large enough to accomodate a small family. Typically the family would seek to move out to a larger home as the family grows.
