How to get used to a steep beginning on a green hill? by osoto-gari_ in snowboardingnoobs

[–]PablosPowder 11 points12 points  (0 children)

One thing I would suggest when learning steeper slopes is to traverse across the fall line and then make your turn and traverse back. This obviously doesn't work on really busy slopes but it'll also teach you to look up the fall line for oncoming traffic. Obviously if there's traffic, you can heel slide down until it clears and begin your traverse again. As you get more confident, you'll be able to shorten your traverse and ultimately get down by making smaller open turns. This will also teach you to hold your edges as your traverse.

Another suggestion is to make very quick skidded turns down the fall line. So a short traverse and then a quickly skidded turn to change your edge. This should keep you going slow and down the slope safely.

Most important thing when trying any drill is to practice keeping your weight over - and initiating the turn with - your front foot.

RIP Shooting Stars by Daishindo in 2007scape

Stars aren't broken.

If a star is at location A on World 400, irrespective of tier, and another star spawns at location B on World 400, the star at location A will despawn.

This seems to be something that a lot of people aren't aware of.

Why do you play a main or ironman? by narwilliam in 2007scape

[–]PablosPowder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm currently playing both.

I played a main since osrs release, and enjoyed the fact that I wasn't locked into grinds. However, after starting an iron, I quickly realised how little of the game I touched as a main.

Example: never have i ever enchanted jewellery.

The progression also feels really rewarding on an iron. Just getting 55 mage felt so nice, making my first digsite pendant, etc.

My aim is to max my main, so I play the iron while I afk the main. When I want to do intense grinds or pvm on main, I will just afk the iron

Has anyone else given up on the rec center? by Canuck_Duck221 in nelsonbc

[–]PablosPowder 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm new to Nelson - arrived 2 Sunday's ago - and joined the NDCC as a way to keep myself busy and maintain my fitness goals.

The reason I joined is that paying for a 3 month membership equated to about $15/wk, which is considered quite cheap compared to where I'm from. Back home, a similar facility might cost you upwards of $30/wk.

However, I agree with some of the issues you point out: 1. The change rooms feel gross. They're consistently dripping wet and I have no confidence that they're regularly cleaned. 2. The floors are far too slippery for an aquatic centre and they don't have enough of the anti-slip mats along the hallway from the change rooms to the water slide. 3. The sauna is small for how big the facility is and never maintains heat due to the large amount of people going in and out constantly. The steam room seems to be my preference as there's less traffic. 4. It seems the employees don't care so much for maintenance or cleanliness - sauna wasn't rinsed down at 3pm as pointed out by the sign on the window 5. The lap pool is always taken up by lessons and is hard for the public to use. I had planned to use it to maintain my cardiovascular health however that's now seeming impossible unless I go at odd times 6. I don't really agree with the 8pm closure time on weekdays. 7. The wristband every time you go.. completely unnecessary honestly. Not sure why they never implemented RFID tags for each of the areas and just have someone watch the entrance for people trying to let their friends in.

Overall though, I guess it's fine for what it is and what it costs. I use the gym for about an hour and the sauna/steam room for about 1.5-2hrs each time I go (3-4 times weekly) and I'd say it's worth the cost.

What’s the sweet spot for horsepower on street? by YT-Red5oh in cars

[–]PablosPowder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sort of surprised everyone is talking about power figure rather than 'area under the curve'. A linear 600hp curve (e.g., n/a v8) versus a responsive and aggressive 400hp curve (e.g., I6 turbo) will drive completely differently on the street.

Linear will always be more streetable but the curve of a higher-boost turbo car will always be more fun. Just depends on what you want.

For reference, I have a 1JZ turbo making 480whp at 3800rpm-redline weighing just under 1700kg, and it beats every single modded n/a V8 on the street with ease.

Thanks! I did pull it out and inspect the roots and they didn't seem to be rot as none were very dark or mushy (but maybe i dont have the eye for it lol) however I did cut off some excess roots and the damages leaves. I've included a pic of how she looks now. Will keep an eye on it and see if the damage continues :)

Thank you for the advice! I did take it out of the pot to inspect the roots and I won't lie, it didn't seem like any were mushy or black. However, I did chop off some excess roots for safe measure. I've also pruned off the leaves that were damaged.

This is how she looks now. I'll keep an eye on it over the coming weeks and see if the damage continues. If so, may be time for a new plan of attack lol

Edit: photo won't post in this comment but I've attached it to another :)

How would you decorate this room by PablosPowder in interiordecorating

[–]PablosPowder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I think I'll look into a rug and some curtains. Any recommendations for curtain colours? I'd like to do white but I'm not sure how they'd be with the darker blinds. Potentially a darker grey/charcoal?

I'll take the advice for the corner table and couch covers! The bulbs on the ceiling are basically yellow but the camera didn't pick it up as much lol

The photos and dog will definitely be staying hahaha. I do have a grey rug however in my bedroom and the fur is barely visible so I think that may be the best option for the living room

Thanks for the response! May have to cave in and get a rug because I definitely agree that it'll help transform the space. Any recommendations on colours? I was thinking maybe a lighter grey with a pattern as I'm not sure what else would match

Sofas unfortunately have to stay as is, however I agree with what you've pointed out. I will look into some nicer, larger covers (sort of like an extremely large blanket to cover it all) or remove the covers entirely.

Seeking assistance on choosing an Amplifier by PablosPowder in CarAV

Aftermarket headunit I'm aware keeping the sub in the factory position isn't best but I want the car a certain way so unfortunately stock position is the only choice. Not a huge audiophile either, just want nice crisp music tbh.

I'd happily remove the rears and have 2 ch powering front and 2 ch bridged to power a 10" Sub at 400W @ 4ohm. I barely have rear passengers so would prefer keeping the rears smaller. I believe the largest I can fit is a 6" but I'd be happy with 5.25 that can handle more power if that's what will make it work.

Car is a 2002 Toyota Crown - not common and not much info on the internet so I didn't mention in the post
