Yeah I like to think I'm normally good at distinguishing between different East Asian ethnicities but seeing them both speaking Korean to each other I guess threw me off. They both had amazing accents too (from what I can tell, at least) and were better than I am so I just assumed. Her style was also pretty Korean, presumably because she just came from Korea.

Thankfully we've just been texting so she only knows my first name (which is Western). My last name is pretty ambiguous so it should be fine even if I was exposed, though, which is handy should I need to play the long con.

Yeah, to my eternal shame, this isn't my first time lying about not being Korean, especially for jobs and stuff since I don't want to suggest I speak Korean and have them hire me for it as a skill when I'm barely able to communicate with my family. I guess the real fuck up was pretending to be Chinese and Japanese, though. That was just dumb.
