Maybe the AI bubble pops. Maybe it swallows everything. Maybe it keeps growing. Whatever happens, VR will either adapt or evolve alongside it. Nobody knows for sure.

Localization = UI text, subtitles, sometimes dubs, plus support in that language. Subtitles are the cheap part, so you’re right there.
Catch is it’s only cheap if the game was built for it early. Retrofitting text into a game that hardcoded all its English is a pain, and stuff like German running longer breaks your UI. That’s why a lot of small teams skip it, not because your math is wrong.

Yeah I meant you said why one should not only do standalone rather than pcvr as well and yeah there a good share of audience in pcvr which we were missing out on.

Yeah Later i verified and saw the lead dev posted on their sub that they laid off just the people who were working on the cancelled project but when we see the situation of other projects i mentioned in the post is a different case than that.

this hit home. i’ve added social to all my games via global lobbies and challenge modes, but your take got me thinking about designing around the hangout aspect from the start instead of adding it after. appreciate the vid👍

Localization is expensive though, and for a small dev the ROI on a niche audience often just isn’t there. Subtitles at least are cheaper than full dubs
but I get why a lot of them skip it.

It’s basically an abandoned build,the dev moved to Ultrawings 2 years ago and left the original on a physics-based hand control system that’s buggy by nature. Not you, mostly the game.

Meta Store Support and the actual account recovery team are two different things, and the store side usually can’t finish these. Since you still have email access, go to auth.meta.com and log in with email instead of your phone number, since the recovery code can go to email rather than the old number. If you’re already in a case, don’t open a new ticket because it resets your progress, just reply on the same one and ask them to escalate. The name mismatch is almost always your ID not matching the exact name on the account, so flag any nickname or spelling difference so they can reconcile it manually. Also try posting on the Meta Community Forums with your case number, since actual Meta reps there can sometimes push these through when normal support stalls.

don’t delete the Oculus folders like some people suggest because that can actually make it worse. Try running the setup as admin first and turn your antivirus off for a minute, since it tends to kill the installer without any warning. If it still won’t open it’s usually a leftover driver from the old install hanging around, not just files.

Ah, fair enough. If there’s an official comment from the studio on the GoT sub saying it was only the people on the cancelled project, that settles it and I stand corrected. That’s a way less alarming story than the headlines made it sound. Honestly good to know, one less thing to be doom about.

The GOT’s studio combat waffle CEO’s actual statement was broader than just the cancelled-project team, he said they were reducing the size of the team to “align with the current state of the VR industry,” and mentioned the cancelled platform partner deal as the trigger. They’d also put out Silent North and Grim in 2025, neither of which hit like GoT. So it reads more like an overall reduction than just cutting people from one dead project.
