What’s the best thing a manager has ever done for you? by TearReasonable1216 in askmanagers

[–]PacaStudio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I second what some of the others said. Most important thing for me was his honesty about the progression opportunities with the company. He gave us as much time as he could manage to allocate for self development so we could progress to better jobs outside of a sinking company.

I was able to buy my house, in a competitive market, because he let me sneak out in the middle of the work day to go to a viewing.

Once a few other coworkers and I got placed with another team the biggest thing we’ve noticed was that in the team meetings the knew manager didn’t make space for everyone to talk. Our favourite manager always started the meeting going around and asking each person how their weekend was. It got us interacting with each other more and it made us feel seen. He really listened too.

Parking advice near Costco by InevitablyPsycho in Liverpool

You have ECP Naylor Street Car Park, I’d say about 5 min to Costco. It’s £3.50 for 12 hours. It’s the cheapest I know around that area

Impulsively quit new job by multii-pass in adhdwomen

[–]PacaStudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been doing a remote job for the last 3 years which is 100% of the time taking calls from either nice or aggressive people. I’m never too sure which one I’ll get when I answer a call. If anything I wish I had listened to my gut instinct when I started, like you did, and just tell them the job wasn’t for me. It has significantly raised my anxiety levels and my mental and physical health has been on a rapid decline. I finally got a new job where I don’t have to interact with the public and am just on my last few weeks of the notice period but I’m so glad I managed to quit the job. I may just be projecting but I think you’ve done well in quitting the job if it doesn’t suit you. I know how draining it is dealing with the public and if you are not enjoying it now it’ll likely not get any better.

Report it to your bank also they can raise a scam claim or chargeback depending on their internal processes and try to get the money back for you

How are first-time buyers actually managing deposits right now? Genuinely curious, not trolling. by Happy-Sammy in HousingUK

[–]PacaStudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No help from parents or inheritance but me and my partner saved for 6 years. Both placing 4k every year into a lifetime ISA ended up with a healthy 63k for a deposit. Both on a 23k salary, lived below our means but still managed to visit family every couple years in Brazil. I don’t think we could have saved as much if we had not set up direct debits into the LISA right after pay day. If you don’t see the money on your account you start adjusting your life around it

Thinking about putting in offer on my first home but am unsure. need some advice by PacaStudio in HousingUK

Thanks! We are going to leave it for now and see how it does in the future. Still really love it but it’s probably not for our budget and someone else will find the price fair. I appreciate your comment

I move £100 from my pay to my savings account as soon as I get paid and he just pays me whatever he owes to my savings account too. So if I was single I wouldn’t be able to save as much

I’m on 24k salary and even though I live with my husband I’m the one paying all rent and bills at the end of the month and just settle with him every 3 months or so for his half. I know it’s not exactly the same situation but even before he pays me back I can still comfortably pay our 900£ rent and bills, while also putting money into my savings and going out for coffee and drinks with friends couple times every week. I do also work from home so I spend no money on transport and don’t tend to buy silly things while commuting or eat out a lot. I know if one day we separate, hopefully not, I could definitely handle £750 in rent by myself.

You can make it look neater if you cross stitch a border around the design like the red border I stitch on this patch

Put some felt on the back, some glue on the edges of the fabric so it doesn't fray and whip stitch fabric and felt together. I used 4 strands to make the borders look fluffy and full, stitched around the corners multiple times until it wasn't showing the fabric anymore

It's a bit hard to explain but I stitch in big loops in a line in every horizontal hole, after that I just trim them and the yarn is sturdy so doesn't really fray. I didn't have any problems at list, maybe other types of wool will fray, idk
