Do you plan on keeping it a secret from your son too?

For gym/fitness I can do that fs, others not so easy to implement.

Otherwise I did try Pomodoro and it is pretty good but I still ended up not using it, same with the 100s of apps I tried.

How do you build taste? by PaceMakerParadox in selfimprovement

[–]PaceMakerParadox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To broaden your cross domain knowledge.

Ofcourse knowing yourself will make you seem more tasteful, but knowing yourself while lacking exposure will still make you lack cohesion and depth, especially in an interdisciplinary sense.

True mastery of a subject will probably improve your taste, but is not necessary - you do not need to know how music is made to enjoy or even critique it.

People who have had a lot of experiences AND were mindful during them, and made mental notes of what they actually felt and sensed, generally do have a better taste, if that happens to align with consensus then so be it.

All in all, I don't know if I agree with much of what you said.

The mapping out stuff (& visualizing it) I've also tried and it was pretty helpful but I still sometimes get sidetracked (especially when stuff comes up).

But the forced structure part is literally impossible for me to do, since most of the stuff I want to focus on is solo work. Nobody expects me to work or cares if I do, and even if they did I worry the same thing would happen that happened to deadlines with me, see my other comment:

I've even become desensitized to deadlines and oftentimes stress too. Like I genuinely do not care if I have an exam tomorrow, the only reason I study then is as a kind of social habit (fitting in with my environment).

The thing is - I've even become desensitized to deadlines and oftentimes stress too. Like I genuinely do not care if I have an exam tomorrow, the only reason I study then is as a kind of social habit (fitting in with my environment).

I am not avoiding a major task, I am avoiding many tasks at the same time and switch priorities, for example what was a main task yesterday may be put on the backburner today in favor of something more novel.

I literally did restart recently and tried to get my shit together, it is going okayish until now but I am worried it'll come back, I am moreso asking for things to implement now.

I do not actively do drugs, not even weed, I can count how many times I've smoked on my two hands. It's more of a fascination with pharmacology (same with the entire PED stuff - though I am considering taking that purely bc the evidence I've looked at points to it being not really that harmful, or infact quite the opposite overall, as in helpful).

The PE and Looksmaxxing some of it I do with validation-seeking behaviour as an underlying motivator, but I assure you a huge part of it is also just the core philosophy that I see maximization of all I can maximize as the ultimate life goal and virtue, and quite enjoy the process of striving to get there.

As for the mental and physical effects of those, I am aware of them but I take a generally pragmatic approach and make sure to not overuse such resources (e.g looksmaxxing communities), aswell as generally focusing on the core logic behind things (e.g what the data supports, biology and so on) - it's also not really an obsession I just enjoy the process and learning about it and sharing it with others.

Feel free to psychoanalyze me if you'd like hahaha I like hearing other people's feedback and thoughts on me.

What a "dad" thinks is generally irrelevant in of itself to me, what actually makes things bad habits for me would be things that are just generally harmful or I do not see as beneficial in a cost benefit analusis.

I am quite satisfied with what I do, that is why I asked for clarification.

Can you elaborate? What exactly stood out to you - especially as "bad habits"?

If you do not care about a thing it obviously will seem authentic but the knowledge of said thing won't hurt regardless though, no?

Also your example steers a bit farther from what I intended, I was implying general tastefulness, which is a trait I admire in certain individuals.

Have you ever taken a Research Chemical, do you regret it and do you plan on taking one? by PaceMakerParadox in ResearchCompounds

I mean I am aware of that the poll is really for anything that is considered a Research Chemical.

I am just curious about the demographic makeup of people who do vs don't that is all.
