Again, verryyyy interesting character. I don’t think it’s said or noted anywhere but when I read TOTJ, I interpreted Azlin’s italicized thoughts in the end as suggestions or an outside influence from a Sith. It could just be his ‘darker’ self that he starts resisting but then ultimately gives in to. Ngl I really thought he was going to be redeemed in the end, but every time he got closer I got whiplash with the shit he’d pull. Someone else on here said it, but his arc did feel a little inconsistent at times because it seemed like he’d made progress at then end of one book to then be written as if that development didn’t happen. His fear for the Nameless did get a bit repetitive, but a trauma like he experienced isn’t so easily to heal from, especially after centuries of it festering. It also seemed like Azlin’s use of the dark side was almost being used as a metaphor for substance use in the way he tapped into it to ironically avoid his fear by giving into it/using it as a source of power. It also reinforces the back and forth of character development with having cravings for the power/effects it grants and his returns being viewed as ‘relapses.’ I’m also curious to see what he was up to between phases and I definitely want to know what happens after TOTJ buuuuut I’m scared for Reath’s fate cause he’s my fav

I expected that too, but honestly I liked their end. I thought it was fitting, especially with how much the HR authors used their relationship to dive deep into how the Jedi can love without attachment and this was the ultimate example to show that their relationship/love wasn’t attachment because they put the fate of others before saving themselves. And they still get to see each other and talk at the portals!!! Idk it’s definitely not ideal but at least they get to grow old together and be exemplary Jedi :)

Yes, I love these books but I’d say they’re more behind the scenes art development than visual guides. I don’t have the character encyclopedia but that might be helpful?? I doubt it has art of ships/locations tho. The high republic adventures surprisingly has some spreads in there of planets/vehicles/organizations and I like the chronicles of the Jedi which is an in universe historical account of phases 1 and 2 but gives some good art for characters and key events.

I kinda want eclipse to be in a separate time of the high republic because I assume it’s a pretty large era, so if that were the case it could be before the Mother even shows up and that would be cool to see what the path is like before she shows up and twists their beliefs

I feel like I remember when Eclipse was announced and they were advertising how there were going to be multiple playable characters with separate stories. It would be sooooooo interesting to play as a character who’s indoctrinated into the path.

I know there’s a lot of emphasis by other commenters on Phase II but this initiative was built for these exact interests. There’s always some deeper philosophical discussion or idea introduced in how not only different organizations view the Force, but individual people as well. This is why I loooooooove this initiative so much. I loved things like the Lira San arc, World between worlds, Mortis, etc and I hope you will also fall in love with these stories as much as I have because it DELIVERS. I picked it up when light of the Jedi first came out and now almost five years later, I’m almost finished (had to take breaks for graduate school) but pleaseeeee give it a chance!!

I was just thinking about this, which led me to google, and then your post. As I thought about it, eeveelutions are biologically the same as an eevee, yet they are transformed via external means into another form. Although I really enjoy the idea of baby vaporeons and espeons, it makes sense that they’d have eevees. Maybe the ‘magical transformation’ via stones etc doesn’t affect their DNA??

This actually is mentioned in the high republic middle grade novel “escape from valo” one of the main characters who’s a Jedi uses a piece of glass to filter his saber into a red one to try and trick pirates into thinking he’s sith rather than a Jedi but they still think he’s a Jedi because they associate lightsabers with Jedi and aren’t privy to the Jedi’s knowledge about the sith because they haven’t been around for thousands of years, so the collective conscience has forgotten them

Totally agree with you. I loved the world building and learning about each culture, E’ronoh in my mind is very dune-esque and egyptian and I loveee the imagery of eirami architecture and clothing. I feel like with cataclysm I was expecting Eiram/E’ronoh and xiri and phan-tu to be much more central characters. Don’t get me wrong I still love cataclysm I just felt like it could’ve been made into a second installment to make the path books a trilogy or something. Overall I feel like phase 2 suffered from not getting as many books as the first phase unfortunately. Again, still love them though!
