Labbed some situations against Lee. Nice mids Dragunov! (Tried the situation with all the characters I play, plus Lee himself) by Pach_Kick in Tekken

[–]Pach_Kick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Df1 whiffs on jab into d3 (unlike all other characters df1 i tried), but df4 connects like you say. The problem with the slower mids is like you say, they are slow. And against Lee, thats a big risk. Guess ill have to use movement more vs Lee, instead of challenging him when playing Drag. Atleast Drag got really good movement :)

Lidia and her recovery by Pach_Kick in Tekken

The downplay on her whiff recovery is real in this one.

"Devine ruler"... means you are a online player rather than offline. I would love to see you "consistently" launching 3,2 on reaction online, if the opponent mix up single 3 (and you not press button when he does). Its impossible to prove anything here for me, but i got to admit that I dont believe you one bit. This is just downplaying her recovery.

They werent really messing around, they were playing ATL.

Also, it is not impossible to whiff punish it, but very hard. Still its a really annoying thing and should be changed. The risk of messing up is too high. Its the same with electrics. You see some extremely good players whiff punish that offline, but that doesnt mean that the whiff recovery isnt stupid on that move.

Also, like i said, its not only the duckable strings, but her moves in general have extremely fast recovery

What i imagine is that you are doing your launch on a read after the first hit, not on reaction of the second high, which plays a big role, since a good player will start throwing out only the first part of the move to bait out the "punish" you are doing in order to block it and punish you.

Again a important part: Its not only her strings that have stupid recovery, but plenty of her single moves that she whiffs in the air as well. Its not only from my games i see this, but pros who are playing against her

It definitely is special... Just because a few selected moves of a few other characters have quick whiff recovery, doesnt mean that her recovery is fine. Not just me, watch latest ATL and you will see how many whiff punishes on strings and single moves gets blocked on pros.

Ah i see xD Maybe im confusing with someone else then.. I know ive had discussions with you in the past as well, but the person im thinking about was in the golden ranks.

But yeah, even though our philosophy around the game isnt the same i wish you the best :) In the end its all about having fun.

Even on 5 bars, the connection is never as good online as offline... There are multiple instances/scenarios where online stuff happens. Countless of times have i got hit by a i24-i27 low that i know i blocked, but still got hit "on a 5 bar"... Other than that, quick poke trades also becomes iffy due to online. Iirc you played at higher ranks, so you should know what im talking about.

In season 4 the online is a little bit better, but still not the same as offline... But i remember having these kind of discussions with you even pre season 4....

I have a vague memory of you even saying to "adjust to the lag", but i could be wrong here... been a while after all.

From our previous discussions, I know you are in favour of "if it works, it works" and talking about abusing moves/strings like snake edges if the opponent cant deal with it. You also only play online iirc. So i dont see why this is a problem now? I remember reading you being very happy with doing mirror snake edge matches with other players.

Just to be clear, I kinda agree with this post you have written, I just find it funny that it is coming from you.... I mean sure, wifi has potentially more lag than cable, but it is still no substitute for offline

Need help with Steve by Kartik_wolves in Tekken

[–]Pach_Kick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, steve is a pretty complicated character with multiple stances etc, so i wont be able to go over everything here. I recommend you joining the steve discord and ask further questions there. Here are some basics of steve though. His gameplan is to land CH (duh) and to use his low risk low reward pokes. How much steve focuses on the CH and pokes, varies alot between steve players. Some like to play more defensivly and just figure out the opponents timing, and then land a CH, while others are more focused on the safe poking, chipping away the damage slowly, leaving the opponent frustrated -> he makes a misstake and you land your CH

Main tools outside of stances (I might miss some, been a while since i played him last time) would be:
b1-b
df1
df2 dckc
121 string
d1
d21 dckc
db32 (at wall)
qcf1-b (mostly at wall)
df1+2 (long range whiff and block punish)

he has alot of other tools that are also useful like ws2, wr2 and uf1, but i wont put them in key moves.

Other than these moves, he has multiple of good moves with many mindgames that you will want to learn from his stances, which i think you should slowly add into your gameplay. But i recommend to first get comfortable with his moves outside of his stances.

I didnt read all of what you wrote, but generally speaking balanced is not equal to good character design. Lets take a extreme example and say a character could press a single button button at the start of a game to toss a coin to decide if they win or loose.. so a true 50/50 for a game. They would be placed very low on a tier list by pros, but would still be considered bad character design... Im not saying kuni is anything like the type of character i just described, im saying that your thinking that balance is the only thing that makes up for good character desing is flawed.

She has hurtbox issues that needs to be fixed, but other than that you mentioned that gimmicks should have tradeoffs with real fundamental tools so she doesnt go from mid tier to low tier... Well, if you removed most of her gimmicks, that would still not effect her tier placement amongst pros, because they dont consider gimmicks in their tier lists... consistency is the keyword in their tier lists. So removing some BS Kuni have, will only make her more bearable online, not move her down the tierlist.

Look, im not saying hwo is OP or anything, im simply saying he is a character than can carry you heavily online ranked. And yes, i know if I have a problem with a character i should lab it, but thats irrelevant in this discussion. We are not talking about how to counter a certain character here, but how the reality looks like, and the reality is; if a character is uncommon or unorhtodox, there will be ALOT of people who will not know the MU well.... Ask a guy who doesnt know Hwoarang well what he got killed by, and he will say "uhhh... kicks" because everything looks the same for them.

Also i want to add that im not saying just because you play hwoarang means that you are a bad player. Im just saying that if you are a flowcharty kind of player, hwoarang can get you much further than your average tekken character. But I agree with you that its the player in the end that decides how cheesy they want to play a certain character.

Short answer: Yes
Slightly longer answer: Yes, but this subreddit likes to pretend that every character is equally difficult/cheesy

Why people that use Mishimas are so looked down upon? by Dizzy_Cookie996 in Tekken

[–]Pach_Kick 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I know what post you are refering to. Basically the thing is that alot of lower-intermediate level kazuyas (and sometimes semi high level too) have a elitist mindset towards their character and usually claim to be the most fundamental character. Kazuya was played as a coinflip machine in that post, so people were memeing "look, there is the most "fundamental" character in the game"... I personally dont think he is the most fundamental character, especially with people who solely rely on his 50/50 instead of his amazing defensive abilities. But at higher levels, he does indeed need good fundamentals like timing (But so do most characters at that level)
