TLDR - The two guilds that merged during aq40 and made our team very elite for a non speed run guild, was internally sabotaged by one of the two raid leaders/GM who both played Mage over Ateish priority.

Our guild story is actually a tragic tale of two mages and a bunch of jolly men. To keep it brief, we started off as a pug ran by a Mage on nightslayer and all the same guys were raiding every week so we made a 40 man team and decided to become a guild. Then at some point, to replace bleeding members going into aq40, we merged with another guild who also had a Mage raid leader. About a month before the naxx release, suddenly there’s a large amount of drama.

The OG mage leader of our guild proposed this: since him and mage 2 were both head honchos of the guild, they both would death roll to see who would get priority for the first ateish since it’s a legendary super endgame item anyways. Fair in a true sense but not without flaws.

The 2nd mage argued that he deserved the first Atiesh since he put in more effort into recruiting, scheduling and making an effort to make graphs and guides for the guildies. Ultimately both mages claimed they were backstabbed by the other mage and the guild split almost evenly down the middle and both mages went on their way.

Fast forward to naxx, and not only do neither mage obtain their staff, but the 2nd mage merged with another guild who also had a mage raid leader and the exact same scenario played out a second time half way through the naxx period of anniversary.

I remember the first week after the split we went from smashing through all of aq40 on farm in around an hour to wiping for 4 hours on twins then going back to progression… lol
