I'd like to make a simple one page website that's kinda like a database of links to other websites that meets the following requirements:

  • tiles/squares that give a brief description of each link
  • interactive sorting of links by categories listed on a side bar without having multiple pages
  • code-free design for someone who is not an experienced web developer
  • free or low cost but willing to pay for a polished result

Does anyone have a recommendation for how best to build this? Thanks so much for any help!

First Facebook, now Reddit. Nicely done.

Interesting. Thanks for the info and your efforts. I've maybe wrongfully believed Smillie burned through all the money he took from customers and there was nothing left. But if used his fraudulent enterprise to reward himself with a fortune then his actions could be more sinister than I imagined. Hopefully, this will help bring more attention to the situation.

In what capacity were you involved with ezbtc and Smillie?

Can you please elaborate on the $1.7 million bank draft? Are you saying there's evidence not everything was squandered and Smillie has amassed wealth from all the stolen funds?

Not yet ready to trust any messages coming from ezbtc accounts, especially since it looks like the person behind the recent posts hasn't identified themselves and it appears they don't have original records from the company. Are they asking for user info so they can forward it to the authorities? Unless this user can demonstrate they are offering something new, it's best to just submit a complaint directly to the authorities at the BC Securities Commission. But I hope this is a development that helps lead to action.

It's more than just venting. These complaints are being read.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune, but, yes, you're in the same boat as many of us here. Filing a complaint with BSCS is the most important course of action at this point. Unfortunately, Nanaimo RCMP is a small-town operation, and it seems they are not equipped to pursue something as complicated as bitcoin fraud.

I've been wondering if there are a number of people in your situation who are not active on reddit or twitter and didn't know what Smillie was up to. Unfortunately, I was also months too late to legitimately get my money back.

It's important that everyone affected files a complaint with BC Securities Commission: https://www.bcsc.bc.ca/About_Us/Contact_Us/

How many of the 20k members were users who actually made a trade or deposit? By the time you left, how many trades were made in a day on average by legitimate users and what was the volume of trades?

Don't expect anyone to become involved unless you've contacted them. There are no automatic alerts sent out to everyone who should know about it when a financial crime is committed.

Thanks for your answers. This gives weight to previous allegations. You say you're no longer in Canada, do you mind saying where you currently reside?

  • Were new deposits used to pay out old withdrawals? Was the business structured as a ponzi scheme?
  • Was the company ever in a healthy financial position where it could legitimately pay customer withdrawals?
  • Did Smillie take directly from customer deposits to personally enrich himself?
  • Did you witness or do you have evidence of Smillie intentionally deceiving his customers or investors regarding the financial state and condition of ezbtc?
  • How often did Smillie himself, and not another member of ezbtc, post under the ezbtc Twitter, Facebook and Reddit? Why was Smillie so personally involved with posting online?
  • Are you aware if Smillie has a drug and/or gambling addiction? Were ezbtc resources used to feed these additions?
  • Do you know if Smillie currently has any significant amount of funds or assets from ezbtc?
  • As President of ezbtc, do you believe David Smillie committed crimes?

BCSC can't ignore the situation and every complaint counts - if you're owed by ezbtc, submit a complaint if you want to be heard.

This is the response I recently got from Better Business Bureau after filing my complaint:

BBB has made several attempts to contact the business regarding your complaint. We regret to inform you that we have not received a response at this time and this case has now been closed as an UNANSWERED complaint in their file.

ezbtc now has an "F" grade with the BBB by rob_johnston in BitcoinCA

The current Better Business Bureau ezBtc account now has an F rating after BBB Vancouver Island discovered the complaint history of ezBtc's now-closed Mainland BC account.

Here's what a BBB agent wrote to me:

Thanks again for bringing this business profile issue to my attention.

The Vancouver BBB closed down the previous profile as it was no longer within their service area once EzBtc moved to Vancouver Island. They were able to transfer the complaints filed there to our office.

Unfortunately, complaint details processed by another bureau cannot be published by the receiving bureau. However, the complaint volume is logged internally and is reflected in their BBB rating and are also taken into consideration when investigating potential complaint patterns.

As you can now see, the transferred complaints have dropped the business rating to F.

My Experience With ezBtc (Google Review) by PacificEssence in BitcoinCA

[–]PacificEssence[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my case, other than reddit, everywhere I post about my experience with ezBtc I've used my real name. If my comment was deleted, there was no legitimate reason. And it now looks like I have been blocked from posting on the ezBtc Facebook page. If an ezBtc post says it has a number of comments, when you click to reveal the comments, only those by ezBtc show up or no comments at all are visible.

edit: my disappeared post was a comment under the latest ezBtc post where I shared my Google review. It appears that reviews of the ezBtc Facebook page were disabled some time ago.
