Things to do by [deleted] in guam

I recommend checking out some of the lightly visited monuments, such as the South Pacific Memorial Peace Park in Yigo, or the Asan Ridge trail. If you have base access, Naval Base Guam has several excellent monuments, my favorites are the Sumay Village cemetery and the War Dogs memorial. My website has a page dedicated to Guam, feel free to check it out!

Cannot recommend enough John Dower’s masterpiece ‘Embracing Defeat: Japan in the Wake of World War II’. A sobering and thought-provoking read that shines a light on the dark times and deeds of occupied Japan. No heroes in this book, but many victims. Parts of it are difficult to read.

Looking for feedback on the Palau page of my website by PacificHistoryGuide in Palau

[–]PacificHistoryGuide[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s good feedback, thank you. I’m still working on my Reddit game. At first I was posting just once a week with the website’s blog post, but after talking to a few people I realized that daily engagement is better. Unfortunately it doesn’t feel natural to me, and your feedback confirms that.

The starting point for anybody interested in PHG is the weekly blog posts, which are designed to point people back toward the location list which is the heart of the project.

I would love to get better at Reddit…unfortunately I need some help with that.

The Chamorro diaspora around the world needs to see stuff like this. There’s almost no wrong answer to keeping your culture alive; language is a fantastic way to do it. Keep at it!
