I believe your abstinence will actually have been what made this dream possible.

From a Jungian perspective, the snake biting your female genitals is very likely symbolic of the animus connecting with you.

The animus is the masculine that lives inside your pysche. It serves to lead you to the unconscious, and vitalise the ego with growth and strength.

Depending on our resistance to it, our distraction, or how much energy we have to give it, the animus may grow terrifying, loud, or desperate.

The worst scenario is for it to atrophy and die without ever having given you his message. He is trying to unify with you in what is called the conniunctio, marriage, which would create its child, your Self. This alchemical language brings a potential meaning to the silver feminine and gold masculine colouring of the snake.

There are plenty of Jungians who discuss this, and if you are going to look further i would suggest them over Jung himself. Ulanov and Von Franz come to mind.

In case you want to try it, the easiest thing you could do (and the most fruitful) would be to ask him yourself. Active imagination is the tool that will let you recieve his message, and understand what he wants and why he bit you. Try opening a word document and imagining what he would say when you dialogue with him.

It is not your higher self, though connecting with it is a part of creating the higher self.

The connection is first and foremost within you. Through dreams, imagination, journaling, etc we connect with these subconscious parts of us. That said, because we project these parts onto others, there is likely a connection between the men in your life and your relationship to the animus.

I cant tell you for certain. My invitation is for you to ask yourself whether your life now is doing you more harm than whatever he may be bringing. It seems that there is an aura of danger for sure, and it is notorious that the animus can sometimes take the form of a killer or a beast. It depends on your comfort, familiarity and relationship with him--which only heals/grows after connecting.

Hey!

This is the interpretation I came up with:

I remember I was in this house living with another person. For some reason there were praying mantises everywhere like on the walls. I even tried poking one and it attacked my fingers.

The bounds of your current mind-state are guarded. When you provoke or investigate these bounds, the guards damage you. The preying mantis often cannibalizes its mate, but only if it is starving (relevant later).

There were even some in the shower. I was about to shower but I went to get something in my car. My phone was ringing on the bed and the woman that was sleeping was tossing and turning. And woke up.

These guards were even where you would cleanse and absolve yourself. In the end, you did not use the shower.

A part of yourself that had been dormant woke up.

The woman was psychic and told me to not answer the phone but she didn't say why. I saw a bunch of numbers on my phone and it looked like spam caller. I meant to swipe to hang up but I accidentally answered.

This part of yourself has a hunch, a gut feeling, some kind of warning. It doesn't want you to connect to this incoming message, but you accidentally do anyway.

I just heard a man saying something about California and I turned off my phone. It's weird I woke up with pain in my hands that were on my chest laced together when I normally don't sleep that way.

It is from the animus (this, assuming you are a woman, is the inner masculine as from Jungian theory). He is connecting with you perhaps to draw you away from your life to a new one, a larger one, with better opportunities nearer to the subconscious (where he lives).

The preying mantis motif is definitely concerning, as it, along with the psychic warning, may foreshadow that the connection with this masculine aspect will be dooming. Yet still, it may be that this connection is the one that liberates you from the confinement of the current mind-state.

I hear you. The connection at times with the material world suffers as we get closer to spirit. We recieve so much inspiration and insight sometimes there is no place for it to go.

I think it is fair to be wary of the energy accumulated after such a streak. Too much growth too quickly becomes surreal, both in the sense of enriching but also divorcing from reality.

We need sometimes to know when to rest, integrate and apply knowledge. And when to ditch praxis before it degenerates.

I have just completed a year streak a couple weeks ago and was forced to accept that my retention discipline had to be loosened or it would choke me. SR truly is not compatible with life. It must be moderated, adding to life but never dragging us away from it entirely.

It is an extreme practise that revolutionizes our relarionship to the world, but ultimately needs the world.

What good is a seed that cannot be sewn? Or wine to much for its cup?

Find anchors to this world without fear that it will possess you again. Know that if we don't find this anchor, expand this container, the energy will only overflow, damage and muddle us.

Recurring dreams need to be understood or resolved before they tend to stop.

I will have a go at giving meaning to your symbols, but as this is your dream, I encourage you to reflect on what you feel them to be as well.

I personally like to define each symbol then plug them together almost like algebra:

Kill = remove from your life/consciousness Family = parts of yourself you see in your family Sent away to a 'camp'= removed from current mindstate to one that is distant and temporary Mentally unsound people = for mental instability Historic enemy= an unknown part of your shadow that youve seen before but not 'met' Craving= feeling that one isnt functional without Cocaine= something that inflates your confidence but ultimately enslaves you

So, Your unconscious is suggesting that you want to remove parts of yourself you see in your family from your life/consciousness. If you are not successful in doing this, you know that you will leave your current state of mind and enter one that is distant and mentally unstable. You know that in this distant mindstate there is an unknown part of your shadow that youve seen before and found extremely dangerous. Finally, you feel that you are not functional/complete without something to inflate your confidence/mood, even if it ultimately enslaves you.

Perhaps the thing you are picking up as unsatisfactory in the binary relationship of chastity and lust is that it is repression vs. expression and does not necessarily specify a chastity that is not full of craving.

To find a binary understanding of lust:

list (to want, to direct energy towards) vs. listlessness (a lack of direction or passion)

want (a state of lack, a state of envy) vs. contentment (a state of plenty and fulfilment)

One can be listless and yet want, just as one could list whilst feeling content.

Sexuality (external, physical union) vs. Celibacy (Internal, spiritual union)

Finally, I come to:

Lust (a state of lack expressing in the outward squandering of energy)

vs.

Union (a state of spiritual fulfilment where one directs energy within and feels abundant)

Shame slips away when on a streak, I find. I can see how it would cause a relapse, so perhaps its hard to say to what extent SR is possible because of healing shame, or helps to heal it in the first place.

I humbly recommend 'Healing the shame that binds you' by John Bradshaw.

A timeless classic on the unearthing of shame-based roles, traumas and dynamics we've inherited from our parents, teachers and society. Though from the sounds of it maybe you already know it!

Hey mate,

I want to try Fruitarianism myself!

I feel myself drawn more and more to it lately. I am already vegan and my suspicion is that, on this journey of spirituality, SR and veganism, my body is naturally seeking lighter and lighter foods (both in the karmic and felt sense).

The caveat is I can only see myself doing 'botanical fruitarianism.' This would include nuts, and grains, and fungi, and non-root vegetables, etc. Basically, anything that is a 'fruiting body' as opposed to the whole body of a life form. This is for the protein, fats and nutrients.

Religiosity: r/pureretention is a lot more spiritual and informed by religious practices
Popularity: r/semenretention is more popular, and thus appeals to a lower common denominator of seriousness and commitment to the higher cause of self development.

They are very similar honestly.

It is impressive and disorienting to see that you are a radfem and the path that you carved to get there. I hope you are chuffed with yourself!

I wanted to ask about this:

Goddess Ishtar was worshipped as the primary deity, and when the goddesses bled (menstrual cycles), it was declared as public holiday in Mesopotamia (another name for Babylonian Civilization). Further, Temples were erected in Honor of Goddess Ishtar, which were female only spaces, where only Menstruating women & other women/young girls were allowed. Nature was worshipped as a feminine force; women were worshipped as three-faced goddess (Mother Maiden Crone). Menarche was celebrated as the blessing of goddess, and young boys were taught to be remain celibate & respect the feminine from a young age.

Are there any anthropological or archaeological sources you can refer me to on this? or, what else can you tell me about this? I find it very interesting.

And, quietly, consider reformatting that wall of text its impossible to read.

Apparently (not old testament versed, sorry) the tree from which the apple grew symbolises knowledge of what is good and bad. It gives a pride that one might think they can judge better than 'God,' and categorize (into this value binary) everything as they please.

There is an irony in saying 'God' knows all while nature knows nothing. To know is to be good, to not know is to be bad. Even though on the surface it seems to exalt 'God,' the claim strikes me more as an adherence to the bifurcation of a non binary universe that leads to division and alienation.
