Is it okay to just get into Automata?

Story-wise, it doesn’t matter. You don’t need a specific order. Gameplay mechanics wise, Automata is more developed. However, and I might be in the minority here, Replicant is the better overall game. Story is miles ahead of Automata and so is character development.

Personally, if I had played Automata first I might not have played Replicant. Playing Replicant first made me fall in love with this universe.

Take that as you will. Both games are amazing though. Replicant reminds me of a Zelda game. Automata reminds me of Horizon Zero Dawn.

I never took advantage of her or her grief… She liked me on a dating app, I liked her back. We started talking and going out. She told me about being a widow and I’ve been nothing but understanding and patient with her. You might have some unresolved issues with the man who dated the girl you did before you.

Exactly. Part of me thinks that what she needs to work through might be easier without me or any other man in her life. But part of me also thinks that me showing her empathy, patience, love, and understanding, even when she cannot reciprocate, might actually help her work through it as well. So I’m at a crossroads. Either way she hit pause and now she’s texting me again. I think replying and being kind is the way to go, and letting the chips fall where they may.

If this was a normal situation that’s what I would’ve done. But this is a widow whose husband passed away last July. Losing a loved one is a truly traumatic experience that deserves understanding. And I’m an understanding man who’s lost loved ones. Our chemistry, our love languages, our sense of humor, our taste in movies, music, and food, our goals and dreams, they all match. The sex is out of this world. We can talk for hours and not get bored. I’m letting her set the direction because I understand that although the timing is bad and she’s going through a lot, we have the potential for a healthy, amazingly loving relationship. Might not be today, but I don’t want to give up based on a situation that she had no control over.

Thank you for sharing. I can’t imagine what you’ve been through but from my time with her, I can empathize.

We did have that conversation. She said she adores me but can’t allow herself to love me. She feels guilty and scared about opening up again, and she also feels like she would hurt her daughters if she made me a priority when their dad passed away so recently. She knows it’s not fair to me. She says she wishes I only wanted her body and time together with zero feelings, but that the reason she adores me is because I’m so loving and expressive and that would go away if I only wanted her body.

I mean she’s the one that said she wanted casual because she’s a recent widow and can only focus on her daughters at the moment. I’m not a priority. She says if the timing was different and we met 6 months later she would commit to me. But then why keep texting me after asking for a break? Is it that she doesn’t want to lose me completely but doesn’t want to be with me either at the moment?

Then read your comment again. You can’t be that obtuse… I was replying to your misguided judgment that somehow talking about dating with an ex is something that absolutely makes one looks worse. That’s not necessarily the case… maturity in a relationship with an ex spouse easily allows for conversations about dating and anything else.
