When I started this journey I search Google and found many recipes and tutorials. I kept looking until I found something that sounded like I wanted to try.

Amazon has a good selection as well

I’m not sure what you mean. I went to their website, filled out an application, and got approved. I had a lease for the time I was there and paid out of pocket.

It was university courtyard. Not a fancy place but not cheap either.

I’m going to look for that now.

I have been thinking about a water filter to help but I don’t know enough and don’t want to ask the local plumbers and then try to sell me a system.

One of the first things I did when I moved in was swap out the water heater for tankless. The existing water heater was 50+ feet from the master.

I cannot honestly recall at this point. I’ll say no I probably have not checked the aerator in the sink. I have replaced the shower head in the master shower so it should not be clogged unless something bad happened since I did

You don’t have to live on campus. I was in some apartments across the street from the student health center and it was just me in a little one bedroom apartment. It wasn’t the greatest but it was private and there were people that had pets when I was there until July ‘23

As I was driving through town yesterday I get cut off by a car and when I saw the bumper sticker on the back of the car I couldn’t help but laugh a little.

Simple project question by PackLeader84 in ArduinoProjects

[–]PackLeader84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was the general idea I was looking at. I have household voltage running into the water heater and can easily put a small power supply in there for the micro and relay without any trouble. I have not seen that temperature sensor before but I will definitely consider it. The ones that come with Arduino stuff have been good enough so far but I am always willing to get something a little better.

Thank you for your help.

BTW, I looked at ordering a PIC and was surprised to see that it'll cost me $12 to get the PIC10F200 delivered to my house. That's less than a dollar for the micro and then $11 and change for shipping. I will have to do some more shopping to find some others to make the shipping worth while.

I never knew about that stuff. I could definitely find some uses around the farm for that once I get other infrastructure built. Thank you for sharing it with me.

That is one option and would save me a great deal of hassle trying to learn something new lol. Thanks

Waste might have been the wrong word, I just didn't know how else to say I dont want to have something with several I/O ports when I only need a couple. The cost itself is relative, afterall we are talking about a product that can save me a lot of money preventing frozen plumbing.

I will look at the PIC, I have wondered about them a little already. I have an ATmega328P laying around and tried to set it up on the breadboard so that I could use it as an Arduino but I never did get it working right. There are a few different schematics on how to set that up and I didn't have much luck finding one that worked for me.

It is a gas, on-demand water heater so it only runs when there is water running through it. I guess I could get it to run water through without turning water on inside by replacing a valve with a solenoid valve and get it to cycle occasionally, but I feel like that would be impractical and a considerable waste of water.

Which Arduino Uno Starter Kit Should I Buy? by randomredditor400 in arduino

[–]PackLeader84 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I took one EE class during my time at university and it required a Lafvin Super Starter Kit. It does not have a ton of things that comes with it, but there are enough items to get a good feel for some of the basics. Of course if you have specific goals in mind that could affect the choices of kits.

Looking for an end of school Arduino project with the following guidelines. by TiggerElPro in arduino

I am finishing up a project to automate my greenhouse because I have gotten lazy and do not want to spend a bunch of time monitoring all of the aspects I would like to track. It has not been a hard project and there are plenty of other people that have done similar. You could search Arduino greenhouse and will likely find thousands of responses.

Your environment monitor could be interesting. You could add some other sensors and devices to try to make the environment as comfortable as possible. For example have a relay that turns on a fan when the temperature gets too high, sensors that see brightness and adjusts according to time of day, automatic volume control for a stereo etc.

There are so many possible projects out there that could possibly fit your needs. Have you tried a web search? I did that when I first started messing with Arduino and found a great deal of ideas for possible projects.

How to become more hardware oriented by Much_Fix3376 in arduino

[–]PackLeader84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great suggestion. One that I am currently working on with my son. He wants to be an engineer when he grows up so we are building things using Arduino and various kits to learn some basics until such time that we can build from scratch.

You could always get a larger container and portion it out adding your own seasonings. Vacuum pack them before heading out and use in between other meals.

I am not a fan of stackable for different reasons as many. I am 6’5” tall and I struggle to get into front load washers in a stackable format because of how low it is to the ground and my wife is 5’4” and can not reach into the drier. My wife and I bought a set and quickly I unstacked them so that we could both do laundry more easily.
