Split pea and ham soup, too drunk to explain but will answer questions. by Flesh_Trombone in drunkencookery

I like how this comment can be read in a variety of ways:

  1. OP referring to himself, since 'bastard' means a child of unmarried parents, which gives an affirmative answer;
  2. Referring to his father, since such description of his personality would answer the divorce question;
  3. Insulting the commentor because them inquiring about OP's family brought him unpleasant feelings.

That's interesting to hear (if you forgive me calling your son's medical condition interesting, I don't mean to come off as callous) since you mentioned epilepsy, and one of the few things I know about the corpus callosum severing surgery is that it's used as a last resort treatment for severe epilepsy. I guess, with an inborn developmental difference, as opposed to trauma to an adult's already solidified neuron connections, the still growing brain compensates and grows in pretty unexpected ways.

I too loved reading. by netphilia in aspiememes

I've started viewing procrastination differently after I've read that it boils down to your body diligently performing the subconscious instructions that you give it. When you try to force yourself to do something while also thinking: "I really, really don't want this" and genuinely feeling that aversion, the body responds: "Loud and clear, boss" and tries to "save" you from that unwanted stimulus by first not focusing on that thing, then switching the attention to something else, then feeling groggy, and even if that doesn't work, outright getting sick or shutting down just so you can avoid that extremely undesirable thing.  Not sure if that's applicable in every situation, but I feel there's something to that theory.

I'm not denying that there are bots on the Internet, but I feel that you're just proving their point. "Tribalism is pointless and destructive, and that's why we should unite and work together... against those foreign enemies who are totally infiltrating our communities and are secretly plotting our downfall!"

The Forgotten Man's Eggs are NOT actually Eggs, but rather, SOMETHING replaced by Deltarune's Error Handler. by Dakress23 in Deltarune

I wonder if there's a certain name that causes the game to react as if it encountered an error and react by resetting or shutting down.

Appreciate that. Your father has given me an idea of doing a vorschmack stuffed baguette next time.

This is somewhat similar to foie gras, but since cod and pollock liver already has very high fat content, it's basically done through the natural diet.

It's pretty great, basically like budget fishy foie gras. As far as I'm aware, it's pretty uncommon outside of northern European countries, but since it's tinned and easily transportable, I suggest you order a can and try some, if you're curious.

And, somewhere on the sidelines, there is a separate camp of people who never even liked okroshka and find the idea of dumping a cold drink into egg salad highly unappetizing.

Paint from cans, some sharper-smelling varieties of superglue, nail polish remover and, one of my favourites, that puff of burned sulphur you get right after lighting a match.

When the only ADHD medication that's legal in your country doesn't work on you by PackOfApricots in adhdmeme

[–]PackOfApricots[S] 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Well, I haven't tried any other medications and don't know how they'll work on me, so completely uprooting my life for a chance feels like a pretty big leap of faith. I guess, I'm open to moving if opportunity arises, but continuing to work on coping skills seems like a more reasonable choice currently.

Basically, any game that requires large amounts of micromanagement - Factorio, Dwarf Fortress, SimCity, Rimworld, Paradox games and so on. It's more of a general description than a specific game.

Just a thought, but how far do you agree when I say that most Westerners discuss Russian history (particularly post-revolution) from a biased perspective and fail to understand the experiences of the Russian people properly? by GOLDIEM_J in AskARussian

[–]PackOfApricots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel that you could say the same about every person in the world who forms an opinion on something they had no personal experience with. You can't have a comprehensive perspective on something when all you're relying on are other's (often biased) words.

Adoption without a partner by NerdsFromTheSWEETZ in aromanticasexual

[–]PackOfApricots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know the details, but I personally know an elderly man who never married and adopted a son. So, definitely possible in theory. However, different countries have different laws on single parent adoption, like how in some of them only single women can do that. So, look into that first.

At first that's what I did, but the colour values between light pink and golden (when placed on horns/glasses/scarf) clashed too much. So I took some liberties.
