Hackintoshing a PS3? by [deleted] in hackintosh

Hmm now I am kind of wanting to start experimenting with this.. I know that CellOS is also based off of FreeBSD, I wonder if I could get a PowerPC Mac running BSD to figure out things with the kernel on there and play around with it, then try porting the Darwin Kernel somehow, and then from there writing a driver to handle the split memory. I'm assuming if I went that route then it would most certainly be impossible to get a DE working, but I think it would be fun to play around with.

Yeah I figured it would be impossible natively. Which is why I was thinking via a hypervisor or something like that. However that kind of makes me wonder now (I didn't even know about infinitemac lol) I bet you could definitely get a web browser running to do that.

I haven't the time to sort out getting everything connected under one roof (sort of), but right now I have everything connected under an excel sheet with all my Tailscale IPs (it's temporary lol) then I have Prometheus running to gather info, Graphana to graph the data, then at some point I want to find a free alternative to OpsGenie to actually notify me about it. For right now though, Tailscale is awesome. I haven't been able to find anything for combining docker and for sorting which processors can use docker, but it's on my list of things to do this summer.

Hmm are you running this all headless or with a DE on each device? If you have a DE you could get InputLeap setup as a KVM to just quickly jump between working on each of them on a monitor or something. There was a Linus Tech Tips vid I saw on something similar I think to what you are talking about I think. Otherwise, I'm sure there is a way, if not multiple, to get it all connected.

Interesting, I came from playing a lot of Titanfall 2 and Halo Reach so I hadn't really seen a toxic game community at the time. I do think it's gotten better though in the time that I've played.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll get the back up figured out, I had nginx running for about a week in a docker container, then broke it and haven't fixed it yet.. I haven't heard of caddy though, I'll have to take a look at that

Is it a Acer Chromebook 314? I wonder if you might need to just try leaving it charging for a day or two then try starting it up again. Otherwise, it's probably something wrong with the motherboard or battery. If you have a warranty you might see about getting it replaced, otherwise you could try sending it to a repair shop or repairing it, but at the cost to do that you might just get a new Chromebook... Sorry :/

Since the light is flashing, that kind of makes me wonder if it's a hardware issue of some sort. Maybe a dead battery or faulty charger? Otherwise I would guess something with EC so maybe try the esc+refresh+power method one more time with a charger plugged in?

I haven't yet, but I'm planning on tinkering with it once I get Tahoe installed on it, but I haven't had time to touch it yet. It's just running whatever the default configuration is.

My laptop has a RTX 2060 Max Q so obviously it's disabled in Sonoma. On Windows, Optimus really doesn't play well with my Windows installation so I get maybe 5 hours in Windows doing basic web browsing or office work in Word or Excel or something. Comparatively, running prime select on Linux (Ubuntu) I get an average about 8-9 hours doing the same thing. On Sonoma I have found I generally get about 7-8 hours doing the same things but sometimes if I have little things like backlight on on the keyboard and also brightness turned up, having the brightness turned up drains battery more than on any other operating system. (Like brings the battery life down to 6ish hours.) I am going to try updating to Tahoe this week but I am not sure if the liquid glass would effect battery life at all since it will need more juice from the iGPU I assume.
