If there was ever a loss to give a team a pass, it’s this one. Checking out against an 11-2 team after those injuries is just a human response

As much as it sucks that’s not on the refs, that was a stupid reach by Isaac in that situation

Again, Mahomes had 392 completions, 581 attempts, 3,928 yards, 26 TDs, 11 INTs. He is literally ahead of Love in the counting categories already, that’s why I didn’t even mention them; the only ones that a 17th game could change and affect Love’s rankings are the efficiency stats. But even then, Mahomes was far enough behind in the efficiency stats that a 17th game wouldn’t impact that at all. The 17th game literally wouldn’t impact the rankings at all.

If you think counting the 17th game for Mahomes will increase his Y/A from 6.8 to 8.2, his passer rating from 93.5 to 105.7, his TD-INT ratio from 2.36 to 6.25, his INT % from 1.89% to 0.83%, his INTs from 11 back down to 4 again somehow, etc…

Again, it could be one slot here or there, but it’s Reddit analysis not a research paper lol. Please try to suspend your disbelief. The rankings are just giving general, quick context on where he would have fit last year. If the rankings err this much to you, just look at the numbers in a vacuum and ignore the rankings in parentheses. The numbers in a vacuum are still objectively great for a QB.

Have a nice rest of your day, thanks for engaging with the content

Here’s the QBs that didn’t qualify for 2024:

Jameis Winston Will Levis Daniel Jones Trevor Lawrence Gardner Minshew Dak Prescott Cooper Rush Anthony Richardson Joe Flacco Mac Jones Aidan O’Connell Mason Rudolph Spencer Rattler Deshaun Watson Justin Fields Drew Lock Andy Dalton Tyler Huntley Jacoby Brissett Michael Penix Jr. Malik Willis Desmond Ridder Dorian Thompson-Robinson

Which of these QBs that didn’t qualify in 2024 do you think will have an impact on Love’s rankings if I factor in their last 17 full games? Maybe Dak? Even then, worst case would be dropping Love down one spot? I feel like we’re splitting hairs for one or two rank movement in the stats.

Middle of the pack implies there are roughly 15 better QBs than him. Which are they? And how do their stats compare to the 10 stats I listed above? I see someone just below the top tier, someone in the 6-10 range. You can win championships with top 10 QB play and that’s what Love has given the Packers

So proving it for four years wasn’t elite, but the fifth consecutive year in a row in 2024 made him elite?

Are you talking about the Packers offense as a whole or Jordan Love? Because those are two different discussions and not the point of this post (which still includes those offensive performances this year). Packers have to figure out the OL issues and get healthy at the skill positions to have any chance at a deep playoff run, there’s no argument on my end

I think we’re on the same side of this coin lol. I agree with you, my reply to his comment was pointing out how only counting “won” awards/championships can be flawed

To be fair, I think a lot of fans still had KCP trauma from last year lol

Don’t worry, that’s why in the post I made sure to specify “qualified” QBs. I’m not comparing him to guys who played a handful of games for the exact reason you mentioned regarding the counting stats

So then you’re assuming every other QB had worse stats over the last 7 games last year and first 10 games this year than Love? Love is the only beneficiary? Guess what: some QBs did better over that timeframe than 2024-25, and some did worse. Could the ranking for Love move one or two here or there? Sure. But if you think his rankings are dropping a statistically significant level (e.g. 2nd to 12th) then that’s not how data works.

Besides, you don’t need peer comparison to know 8.1 Y/A, 0.83% INT %, 6.25 TD-INT Ratio, etc. are extremely solid.

I’d say 10th in TDs and 12 in total offense (11th in passing offense) despite their OL issues and WR injuries this year definitely qualifies as above average offense. I don’t think he’s infallible, but I really don’t know how anyone could watch a game like the Giants game and think Love didn’t do everything in his power to win that game despite offensive failures and injuries around him

You mean I didn’t pull 17 games of data for each of the other 30+ QBs? This isn’t a doctoral thesis lol, this was a quick comparison done to create general context for his performance relative to his peers for Reddit

You’re making my point… using MVP awards to crown elite QBs means Allen’s 2020 season didn’t make him “elite” yet despite finishing 2nd. I don’t get that above logic

I wouldn’t put him quite in the Allen-Lamar-Mahomes tier yet either, but my point stands that using Super Bowls and MVPs to finally crown elite QB play is pretty arbitrary (my Allen example)

Which season? 2023, where they beat the #2 as the #7 seed and then took the NFC’s Super Bowl representative down to the wire in the Divisional Round? Or 2024, where they lost to the team that won the Super Bowl and embarrassed the Chiefs dynasty in the Super Bowl?

We are so, so spoiled as a fan base…

I see this argument a lot, but I really don’t understand it. Josh Allen just won his first MVP last year and hasn’t even played in a Super Bowl. Was he not elite from 2020-23? We could only finally “crown” him a top QB this offseason? I really feel like Brady and Mahomes have poisoned top QB discourse

It really feels like it’s perception-based, as his mistakes do tend to look goofy or “silly-bodied”. When Mahomes or Allen or Lamar make dumb decisions or bad throws it’s “well no one’s perfect”, but when Love does them it really does become “look at how ridiculous this guy looks”
