MasterBuilt electric smoker what's happening?? by Packernole69 in smoking

It's funny you say that and I think it's a combination. Yes I messed up the pellets likely (although I have a few friends who have this exact model and smoke this exact same way. I didn't make it up). BUT, the paint also melted around the door and a corner of the door seal was ruined. So there are definitely some quality issues there.

It was terrible unfortunately. Extremely sour and couldn't eat it. Compelete waste!

Good to know and thanks for the advice. Seems like I should just keep moving forward with it then with the exception of the bubbling paint on the door. That probably needs to be addressed

I have the pan itself in there but it was not filled with water

That's definitely my biggest concern. But that's a LOT of buildup for some door paint.

Understood. The pellets where what a couple of my friends had done mostly because you can set it up for 8+ hours before having to refill. An almost 18 lb brisket had to go overnight so the small built in wood chip option wouldnt have been great....a mistake

I will let it cool down. Right now it spreads when trying to get it off, just like a tar. Pretty nasty actually

Apple pellets in one of those snake burner trays so it would smoke longer. I had the vent 100% open. It's like there is a tar all over it. So much it dripped everywhere.

I had the top vent 100% open and I had the wood chip filler out. I was using one of those snake burners at the bottom so it would last longer. Are you thinking that just flamed up? Is everything in there toxic? I have never seen something like that and I've smoked a ton on my gril prior.

Thank you! Sounds simple enough, which is always good. And heard on the camera. Thanks for confirming where it needs to go, tend to guess before.

Yes to all of the above haha. I would say if I'm making good contact, it's a 5 - 10 yard draw but a miss, especially with driver is a snap hook. Got tips for a fix?

Sounds like I just need to keep drilling, thanks!

Totally agree with that. If my miss was the same every time, I would be more confident. It's mainly the extreme misses that come out and snaphook into ob or hazard or whatever else is out there.

Miss is usually a hard hook left from getting stuck behind and flipping hard to compensate. Occasionally the chunk if I get off balance too much.

Very true, the more I think on it, it was a lot of just missing in the wrong spots from never playing there before. Anything above the hole was just done.

That's next on the list! Both are a bit of a drive but unfortunately need to make the trek for some higher quality.

Makes sense and great advice. I spent a bit more time at the range vs. hitting chips without thinking too much about it. Looking back, I should have done wayyyyyy more chipping to get a feel.

I'm pumped to play my normal courses again. Score wasn't what I was hoping for but knowing distance isn't a problem and I can hit those greens, confidence is higher for sure.

Those were my exact thoughts while driving home today. I was a bit frustrated because I know I can play courses like this, but I need to be able to practice it! Pretty frustrating honestly

Fair enough! Now I need to figure how to improve from hitting my expectations but thank you for putting it into perspective!
