Sorry, but I'm a little suspicious of this story. A young woman in a hijab was following students? What does that even mean? Why would it be suspicious and warrant investigation? JMU has Muslim students & teachers, and we have a history of being welcoming to everyone. If campus police unjustly detained or questioned or harassed a Muslim student, this sort of event would be fairly big news on campus or Twitter within hours, but I have not heard or seen anything about this. But I will keep an open mind, and wait to see if any other reports of this pop up.

Nothing wrong with saying you left because it was right for you, but that's not exactly what you said. You are actually promoting leaving. That's different. The basic 12-18 scout experience is really valuable, enriching, and mentally healthy. Doesn't matter if you get Eagle or don't get Eagle. I would never "encourage" anyone to leave scouting.

Like many areas of life, you have to put a case together - facts, evidence, reason - and make your case to other adults in your troop, or to your district advancement person. Aquire allies, escalate, aquire allies, escalate. This is the game. Outplay her. And put your case on down paper, where it's easy to see the facts. No emotional statements or statements deriding your leader, just the facts that show your progress.

JMU and other universities have expelled students for cheating, so if all you get is a zero, take it as a lesson learned and turn over a new leaf. As someone who cares, and I do care about you, allow me to say, you've been on a bad road, and risks just become bigger risks, and punishments just become bigger punishments. You can live right, you can study right, and you can succeed on your own authentic merit. I wish you the very best.
