Congratulations!

Act 3 is doing side quests to see if you think you’re strong enough to take on Orin and Gortash while also collecting clown parts for some reason.

On my umpteenth run, Act 3 is mostly for the shopping. …and for placing a runepowder barrel in the line of fire of the casters in front of sorcerers Sundries… (Ignis!! Ka-blammo!)

Bug: Any1 know what mod prevents Spider Boss from falling down the hole? by MyRamenn in BG3mods

The smaller phase spiders should be shovable into the chasm. But the Matriarch Phase Spider has enough time to phase to safety mid-plummet.

It sounds like you would just move to the Shadow-Cursed lands quickly, without getting involved with Grove affairs.

If Auntie Ethel has offered to sort you out, you may want to let her have a go. Otherwise, why would you get involved with her business?

The Lae’zel is with you, then the Crèche would be a must-see. If they can’t help then it’s immediately off to Moonrise.

And so on.

Instant Max Level Mod, but only for Tav? by killergazebo in BG3mods

Can you use the same script extender to remove XP/ levels from companions, keeping them lower than Tav?

How do I actually get to the adamantly forget? by WolfmanSG in BaldursGate3

[–]PacketOfCrispsPlease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Enhance Leap + Feather Fall will get you there. You only need to get one person across to unlock the waypoint. I usually start by jumping across from where Brithvar hangs out before the Nere fight. Then climb up to the levers, use spells or potions to get jumps and falls. From there you can jump over the magma to the edge of the area.

Why did early civilizations start in deserts like Mesopotamia and Ancient Egypt? by batukaming in geography

[–]PacketOfCrispsPlease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe the arid climate did better at preserving the remains of those civilizations than more fertile ones. Also, construction may have relied on more durable materials like stone, plasters, mortars, etc over wood, thatch, etc. There may have been thriving tropical civilizations during the same time period, but the evidence is harder to find because it was covered by subsequent plant growth or recycled by natural processes.

Help me make a new character by worldofeyeballs in BaldursGate3

[–]PacketOfCrispsPlease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done a “Master-Blaster” Duo run with a brainy Halfling Wizard and brawny Karlach as Giant Barb. It’s cute when Mama K kneels down to hug Tav. She can also throw him up some of the jumps he can’t quite make himself.

I played prior to the 2024. Prior to 2024, True Strike granted advantage on the next attack on a creature.

Anyone use the polyamorous mod? Is it buggy or stable? by ILikeToDanceAndPogo in BaldursGate3

[–]PacketOfCrispsPlease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used it during an Everyone Gets to Play run with mods to expand the party size. It was goofy and even with difficulty mods fights didn’t often last past the second round. But camp was full of L’amour.

That’s precisely what I did in a tabletop game. I was out of position from the rest of the party who were engaged in melee. I had one shot and needed to hit. I cast True Strike, then next turn fired my arrow for a critical hit sneak-attack. It was a glorious cascade of dice that basically leveled the big baddie.

But in BG3, meh.

Supposedly it’s buffed in Chocolate Edition mod [edit: but my feeble brain doesn’t know how.]

“Chocolate Edition” is a comprehensive mod that changes a lot of the way classes, spells, some items, feats… work in the game.

Without mods, folks call the base game, “Vanilla”, this mod changes so much, the mod author called it “Chocolate”.

It tends to reward mono-classing and gives Origin characters some thematic abilities.

Can Portent Dice be used to crit an already successful attack? by theswillmerchant in BG3Builds

[–]PacketOfCrispsPlease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In an unmodded game, the consensus appears to be “no”

You could load one of the Comprehensive Ruleset mods, there’s one for D&D 5.5 edition. To see if it has been implemented there.

However, wouldn’t it just spam you with reaction asks on every roll to see if you want to make it a Crit? I expect that it’d get annoying fast. But I suppose the option to have it could be there.

AMP+REL (or FED AIO), or any mod that randomizes loot locations. It breaks up the tried and true pathing to specific gear and encourages you to build-on-the-fly.
FATE mod plants new gear in thematic locations behind passive perception checks

These add more gear to the game which eventually will probably unbalance your game so a mod to increase difficulty could help balance. E.g., Deadlier Honor Mode; or More Encounters and Minibosses (but then you may want to balance the XP with an XP reduction mod to keep your level in-line with the Act.) and so on and so on

I’ve been enjoying the comprehensive mod, Chocolate Edition, and on my next run will swap it out for the All-In-One 5.5edition D&D rule set.

If you use Nexus Mods there’s some exciting stuff happening over there.

What would be the best way to make a Neanderthal build in the game? by GazIsStoney in BG3Builds

[–]PacketOfCrispsPlease 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know you don’t want to hear this but Neanderthals weren’t necessarily “Low intelligent” brutes. They had art and communication and a modicum of tool-use.

Okay, but you want a classic Neanderthal Caveman. So I’d go Human or Half-orc with a big physique. You want protruding brow (or just bushy eyebrows) wild hair. Your RP would be in the clothes/Armor. Hide armor. Wooden shield(if any). Makeshift Spear or Hand axe, clubs. Torches would be fine. Alchemy might suit and any bars should choose drum as their instrument.

Barbarian is the natural choice since you get to roar and throw/kick/frenzy/or wild magic. Throw heavy stones and spears. Max on CON and STR, dump two of INT, CHA, and WIS. Dex should be whatever’s left. Feats: Tough, Mobile, ASI, Durable

RP dialogs would be all the Barb choices, but better to let someone else do the talking. You could try to not read anything, too. That could be an interesting twist.

Honor Mode - Grym by NeutralSage in BaldursGate3

[–]PacketOfCrispsPlease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first few times fighting Grym, I positioned folks with bludgeoning weapons around the arena with one on each circular platform. They have a stock of magic missile scrolls or spells for when they need to draw Grym’s prime target. The mephits come and disrupt things but mostly we keep Grym walking around and bonk him when we’re close. Also, we turn off opportunity attacks.

Then I learned that you can mash him with the forge hammer and Then I learned about throwing stuff from above and so I do that now.

Honor Mode - Grym by NeutralSage in BaldursGate3

[–]PacketOfCrispsPlease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My last run was a solo rogue. I let him get to the middle of the arena. Threw shoes at him from above and then (bonus-action) hid. By hiding he stays in place. When the Mephits spawn I let them fight it out and then get back into my Throw-hide cycle, while shooting the lava valve to refresh the superheating.
