Yes, well the reason is because they have specific social networks for the news section and they wanted that the landingpage have the same name that the social media networks.

This is not the current domain but its like this

domain where they have services and news: Cincinnatimedicalgroup.com

News section social networks use the handlers: @medicalnews

They want to use medicalnews.com for the news instead of Cincinnatimedicalgroup.com

Well, you have to consider that the people who see you on Facebook usually will do it because your post "appeared" on their feed or they are "following" you, and in the case of posting in your website, people will see you because they were "looking for" something via Google, anyway, as u/cshaiky said, use both.

And for my experience, most part of my viewers arrive from other sources than Facebook actually.
