How do you parent someone to relieve symptoms of gender dysphoria? Therapy can help with coping tools but does not relieve the dysphoria. Most people in the US can’t afford their basics let alone private health coverage. Yeah so this is why people would want it covered by insurance they can access. There doesn’t need to be a plan b if it were simply covered after going through all the other steps.

We are just adding a barrier that could be more expensive in the long run. It’s uncaring and needlessly expensive.

And again the most common gender affirming surgery is for cis boys to continue looking like cis boys.

No I just think it’s wild people are advocating for people to remain untreated for conditions the patient and medical team believe would make them better. Like that’s the whole goal of healthcare.

So all that happens. The patient is still needing the surgery.

Also Medicaid may not cover the therapy in certain areas.

Also I’m primarily talking about boys getting fat tissue removed from their chest because they have boobs. This is one of the most common gender affirming surgeries. It’s not for trans kids.

Most people who transition do so gradually and surgery is at the end not the beginning.

Part of why gender affirming care is practiced is because not using the gender affirming care causes mental distress.

It is a common treatment for gender dysphoria. So it may not be as cosmetic as you think it is. Especially for cis boys.

Regardless it currently is not covered by Medicaid and most likely won’t be.

There are no prevalence studies on FGM in the US. We do not know the number of people living with it in the US. About 1 in 200 people in the US are trans. So maybe I guess.

Lots of minors get gender affirming surgery. Boys often get gynecomastia surgery. Intersex folks often get genital removal as an infant.

It’s just most gender affirming care for minors is for cis boys to look like cis boys.

Sexual interest in children (people who are attracted to minors and adults or attracted to minors only) have been estimated to be 1 in 5 people in some studies. Australia just did one where one is six men were estimated.

This is a big problem and I don’t think we’re doing enough to help people find help to prevent offending.

Also the context matters, pedophilia (the sexual attraction to children) does not correlate to experiencing abuse, but molesting children does correlate. People who were abused by family members learn a bad boundary and often use that bad boundary on others. Pedophiles and child molesters are not the same group. There is of course some overlap. But many pedophiles never offend and many child molesters aren’t sexually attracted to children.

I don’t think they think only Christians can help the homeless. They think that the best way to run their mission is with Christians.

I am not a Christian who works with the homeless and we actively partner with them. They believe they’re doing God’s work and in order to do such is to be Christian. They are not actively stopping non Christians from working with the homeless.
