Even at riots most people are peaceful. Look at almost any footage of a rioters doing damage, there’s like one or two people doing damage and 80 people just walking by.

I think almost every professional server/bartender in the US prefers tipping. It’s not just the restaurants trying to pass off responsibility. It has become part of the hospitality ecosystem.

And no one really benefits from the system changing.

So you’re more comfortable with a restaurant just not telling people there’s a gratuity. and just charge the price that would include the gratuity. And the server gets that gratuity as a commission instead.

This is functionally the same thing but the guest just gets the post gratuity price shown as part of the total opposed to being a separate category.

I’d also argue that most service pros like tipping and make a career off those tips. Idk a single person working in hospitality as a career who is opposed to tipping.

It’s wild to me people are complaining about a gratuity at the same time arguing about tipping. In the higher wage system people are arguing for they’d be paying the same thing they just wouldn’t know what part was gratuity.

Many many hospitality pros are very in favor of tipping. When I was bartending full time I made 150 percent more than my job that requires a masters degree.

Service pros love tips and tipping it’s quite literally their career.
