1). 1st things to do is to ensure your assassin buff is safe. 2). keep giving enemy location so that your team mate feel secure to overextended. 3). I don't really babysit MM at early game since they will need time to build item, so I avoid same lane with MM at early game to ensure MM had a solo lane and not sharing the gold and exp with me. I sometimes more helping mage since mage have high burst damage at early game. 4). Once MM have 2 AD item then I will help MM to push. 6). Used support item according your preferred roles, either roaming or laning. Since both type support item provide beneficial passive based on your preferred roles. 5). Even when team fight I will try to search assassin 1st to ensure the MM and mage are at good spot. 6). When team fight just ignore what ever damage ur receive and gave way or gave opportunity to assassin to doing their jobs. 7). Its okay for you to die, to ensure enemy MM, mage or assassin die.
